Halo 4 V.S. ODST storyline.

What are your thoughts on ODST beating Halo in storyline? excluding Spartan ops.

I Think ODST hands down beats Halo 4.

I think Halo 4 is better. Not saying ODST’s wasn’t good. It was awesome, but I’ll take Halo 4 over ODST.

Halo 4 would have a great story… If it weren’t a Halo game. It feels like they wanted to be Mass Effect and Star Wars. Halo was cool because it was semi-believable. Now? No thank you.

i haven’t even played halo 4 campaign. i hear nothing good about it

The story was halo 4s biggest disappointment

Got a onion I want to share.

ODST was a alright game, with a great campaign and nice Firefight. But it had a bad story. It introduced great characters(excluding Dare), gave great background on the UNSC and the war, and it had good voice acting. But where they took the story was just bad. Buck had got his squad out of NM but decided to put everyone’s life in jeopardy and went back in for someone he had relations with. Selfish. And the whole love thing, was ridiculous and pathetic. I hated it, it was executed poorly and ill timed. The there’s the fact that ODST was the least mature Halo in the series.

Halo 4 on the other hand was the exact opposite of ODST(Campaign wise). It had Campaign levels that were not at all memorable, and the characters felt shuffled in and bland. There was no dynamic interaction between anyone but Cortana and John. I felt no love, hate, or anything for Lasky. Because he did all of Jackshit in the game. Palmer was mean and jealous for no reason at all, and Del Rio was just in the game to yell at Chief and cause trouble. We don’t meet any SPARTANS or UNSC personnel. The Elites are demonized and there are no Covenant/Storm characters.

Then there are the Forerunners. The Didact was just angry in this game. He was (super) easy to fight and his character was not represented well. The librarian, ugh. I don’t like the fact that the decided to go in the “This is your destiny” route for Chief. And I hate that Cortana’s death was long and dragged and sappy. I did appreciate the Terminals though.

So if I had to chose, Id chose Halo 4. Yep, the lesser of two evils. ODST’s Dare - Buck scenes were just unbearable. So unbearable that I’d rather go with Halo 4. I don’t like ranking Campaign stories against each other though.

But if I had to:
Halo 2
Halo CE
Halo 3
Halo Reach
Halo Wars
Halo 4
Halo ODST

Just my two cents.

As I’ve said with Commander Palmer, the only reason why I like her is because I hear Commander Shepard every time she speaks. Props to Jen Hale for that.

Second, I tolerate the Didact because (similar to above) I hear Harbinger every time he speaks. Otherwise, the story wasn’t memorable like Assault On The Control Room was.

I’m a little T’d Didact didn’t say something like:

“The Forerunners have returned. Prepare yourselves for the arrival.”

Oh my, by far halo 4. My mom believes halo 4 should get the game of the year. Anyways.

The campaign was amazing. There were moving scenes. The character progression in John, the deterioration in Cortana and her stability. The details. Both games had things to explore. ODST, I like the free roaming exploration, still a bit hard to believe that the ODSTs were able to do a lot of what they did, canonically I’m guessing there were elements which made it easier. It wasn’t exactly that moving. I liked the story, nice. But halo 4, oh my! Requiem opens, we crash, we start seeing Cortana deteriorate a bit. Then this moment, you get out of the crash and see requiem. You see this beatiful world… But that’s not the story sorry. The Didact, yes, seeing him rise from his cryptum, or descend, then having the constraint field in action! Nice reference! The moments in campaign. When Del Rio is treating Lasky as a bagman, on the surface and on the ship. It makes you gah! When you go on a tank to the infinity, and the. Drive them out of there. The librarian cutscene, something was up and it lead to it. Oh there were so many reference! Genesong, Essence, human-forerunner war. Then it all started making more sense. And the cliffhanger, all of this to prepare. Prepare for what? The precursors? Ancilla Cortana, combat skin. All of those touches were so nice! And finding out what the Didact had done. Oh the epic moment when John said, No Sir. The moment where Cortana is breaking down and she’s like, Indont want to. The relationship between the two, the voice acting and animations. Doctor Tilson, the voice and animations, so great, and when they all died… When they got composed… And the contrast between Cortana and John… It was so shocking to me. Oh and Ivanoff station, the reference!!!

I should stop there, there is so much. But I found out relatable, I could relate to John and Cortana sometimes.

People didnt like halo 4’s storyline because it had a lot of emotion and strayed away from all the other halo games military stereotype characters.

I gotta admit, that made me cry.

Yeah, I could relate so much to that moment.
I don’t want to…

You don’t need to hear things good about it to play it… its your opinion that matters… so watch a lets play then or something, I think its taking the universe where it needs and needed to go, it brings characters from the books into the game and expands the universe

Halo 4’s campaign is the highlight/best part of the game. ODST was cool but it wasn’t as good as Halo 4 was.

Wait, FEMSHEP IS SARAH PALMER?!?!?!?

Gosh, I used to hate Palmer, but now I must love her for she is Garrus’ lover!

Yup Jenifer Hale voices both Commanders… hmm she seems to like the rank Commander.

I personally loved ODST’s story out of all of the Halo games thus far, particularly because of the delivery and narrative style, but also because it had a truly happy ending–kinda.

Halo 4’s was amazing too, but it has never been this closed-ended with the insurance of another sequel before. Still, it’s got its own flavor, I’ll love to see where it goes. I’m just sticking with roots first.

CE had the most compelling story line it was so new, exciting, mysterious, but Halo 4 definitely had a cool story too. Halo 2 and 3 got a little confusing with all the in depth Grave mind dialogue, now that had me lost.

As someone who thought the Forerunner Trilogy was awesome, I’d have to say I enjoyed Halo 4 way more than any other game.

ODST just felt too closed in, and of so little scope in a massive universe. I admit, the ant’s eye view is interesting every once and a while, but in the end: did the Halo universe itself progress by the end of ODST? Did anything noteworthy happen that actually had effect?
