Halo 4 UNSC Air Vehicles

Through the years of Halo games, players have always had an input about air vehicles.

Playing Halo 2 I thought to myself how cool it would be to have UNSC Air vehicles as a change to the Covenant Banshee. Halo 3 brought us the Hornet which was a cool addition to the trilogy and furthermore the falcon was introduced to us in Halo Reach.

Even with these additions to the game, there was always that one vehicle that players wanted right from the very start. The UNSC Pelican as a flyable vehicle in-game, brought to us by 343 as a flyable vehicle in the campaign mission 6 “Shutdown” which, while brief, was one of the coolest things about Halo 4.

But where did the Falcon and Hornet go and why weren’t they implemented into the game?

I made a list of the maps below that I think could have been even cooler had they have had UNSC air vehicles:

[/li]- Impact

  • Ragnarok
  • Exile
  • Longbow
  • Forge Islands *Release Date 11th April

Note that in the Majestic DlC map “Skyline” there is a Hornet flying around outside the mapHere

Halo 4 is a great game none the less
I’m hoping that the UNSC will have air vehicles in Halo 5, keep that in mind ay 343 ;p

Comment below about what you think

Of course I miss the UNSC air vehicles too. They made me feel like I was flying something familiar instead of something alien, which I like.

I’ve always preferred especially the hornet’s design over the banshee.

EDIT: About the pelican, I doubt they will be released with the Forge islands (how awesome it would be). On the other hand, I have heard rumours of the next gen xbox supporting 32 vs 32. Pelicans could fit in there much better. So if pelicans show up in multiplayer, it will be on the next gen console.

I agree with you both, Hornet < Falcon for me.

Impact would be a perfect map for UNSC air vehicles, as would Exile. Longbow would be a possibility, but not likely in Matchmaking. Ragnarok is too small in terms of width (barely enough room to fly the Banshee without hitting a tree or rock formation). And of course, need I make input for Forge Island?

It’s a real shame that there aren’t any UNSC air vehicles in Halo 4. The maps in the game might not have worked too to well with the Falcon, but the Hornet as it appears in Avalanche would have been a great addition to the vehicle sandbox.

I can just imagine it now, having a Hornet flying around Longbow and Ragnarok. Seeing as how it’s not too powerful, it would have been a nice transport vehicle.

Oh well, maybe in Halo 5, eh?

I do find it frickin’ ridiculous that the Hornet is in Halo 4 as a purely cosmetic entry. All they would really have to do is take that model, give it a hitbox, slap on some coding to make it drivable and drop it in a couple maps.

Falcon could have been fun for forge islands and impact

343 played it a little too close to the chest this time round. Nothing was new and nothing really added anything to the gameplay.

I really reckon Halo 5 be what we all thought 4 should have been. Sure it means we have to buy a new £300+ console and spend £60 on the game (launch 360 games were that price when they came out, just saying).
