I honestly think that Halo is taking the right path in the way that it’s evolving. Remember that this is is a new trilogy, and it needs new content. People are saying that it’s turning into CoD, but wasn’t CoD 4 a great game? If you are not happy with the steps that 343 are taking, then I’m afraid that there’s nothing we can do. What we get is what we get, and that’s the way it should be.
I think this game will be awesome, and attract a lot more attention worldwide.
I think that’s what 343 is trying to do
Much in the same way that Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace is the “next big thing” circa anno 1999 yes.
Exactly. 343 is pretty much a new buisness except for reach map packs. They are trying to make a name for themselves, they can’t do that by making a copypasta of bungie’s work. Honestly, there’s a reason there has been “MLG” playlists in all the games. The entire game doesn’t need to be one big MLG playlist like 90% of this forum thinks it does. Noone realizes, MOST of halo’s population doesn’t come on these websites, and even less go on the forums, they just look at the news. Most of the forum is made up of MLG kids because they take this game more seriously than the rest of the more casual people, and feel the need to talk about it with other people whose lives involve nothing much more than this game.

The problem is, people say…“It is copying features from COD… NOOOO!! It’s becoming COD”…Really?
I have news all…
COD was not the first FPS! COD has copied most of its features from other great games like Counter Strike, Quake, and Unreal Tournament etc. COD was developing into a fantastic franchise unfortunately they didn’t know when to stop and COD turned into a Michael Bay look-alike production which was all about visuals and explosions and NOTHING else.
Not EVERYTHING about COD is bad. Really, I HATE MW3’s multiplayer in its current form, I just mentally cannot play it for more than 30 seconds because of how shockingly casual and boring it is (it’s just spawn. Shot. Explosion. Die. Spawn. Shoot.). It feels like having my head mashed against a broken subwoofer until I submit. – I’m not a COD hater though, I loved COD from COD:1-COD:4 (although I started to dislike a lot of things in COD:4 like kill streaks).
But, COD does have some elements that work well. Unlockables, weapon customisation, character customisation etc. They work. COD did not invent ANY of those elements though, they simply refined them. So, stop saying… “HALO IS BECOMING COD”. No, Halo is using elements that have been passed down through the FPS genre and refining them to work in THEIR game. Just because COD use it doesn’t make it bad. It’s like saying… “This new Sci-Fi film is gonna suck because it uses space ships and so did Phantom Menace and that film sucked”… but the older Star wars and many other Sci-Fi films before it were fantastic…
Halo didn’t get anything passed down. There’s exactly two genres of shooters: Doom derived, and Bungie. Halo is the product of Bungie’s own design sensibility from Marathon and the common goal of late-90’s early-2000’s (pre-CoD interestingly enough) to expand into a full next-gen simulation. There is very little in Halo beyond the first person perspective and shooting guns bit that is nicked from anyone else.
Just don’t wonder why this game is going to have a population of less than 80,000 after 3 months of release.

I’d rather play with people that enjoy the game, anyway.
