Halo 3 was made available to all this month through the Games With Gold promotion; if you have an Xbox Live Gold membership, you can download it for free. Not to mention all of the DLC is available at rock-bottom prices, so despite most of the playlists being DLC required, the population in Halo 3 has skyrocketed. After 3 long years, it is actually possible to find a game in Halo 3 matchmaking.
And it gives me an idea.
Why stop at Halo 3? What if Microsoft were to release ALL of the Halo games for free throughout November and December? I call it “Halo 4 the Holidays”; here’s the lineup I had in mind:
Halo 3:ODST Campaign Edition (Nov. 1st to Nov. 15th)
Halo:Reach (Nov. 16th to Nov. 30th)
Halo Wars (Dec. 1st to Dec. 15th)
Halo 4, +50-75% off all Halo 4 DLC (Dec. 16th to Dec. 31st)
Halo:Combat Evolved Anniversary Campaign Edition (Games on Demand, $14.99) Release on Nov. 1st
Halo:Spartan Assault (Xbox Live Arcade, $7.99) Release on Nov. 1st
What do you think? Halo 4’s going to need a population boost in the coming months after Halo 3, so it makes sense to release it for free in the coming months; get some people back in here. Also, I’m itching to try out Halo Wars (the only Halo game I haven’t played) and we would be able to get the Halo:CE Anniversary campaign at a reasonable price, not to mention finally getting Halo:Spartan Assault on the Xbox where it belongs.
