halo 4: the good and the bad, after 2 weeks.

first, the bad. it feels like 343 have changed some things just for the sake of change. like ordinance drops. these pump the match full of way too many power weapons, and the fact that they have a random element is a little dumb. i might get a needler and another guy might get an incineration cannon for doing nothing more than what i did to achieve it. that just doesn’t make sense to me.

then there are random weapon spawns. they can favour one team at a pivotal time in the game to unfairly help them win. now this system does get rid of the “problem” that people with more knowledge of the game will have an edge over those who don’t (which isn’t really a problem), but it creates other problems which i have already stated. it can screw one team out of the win because a rocket launcher and a sniper just happen to spawn closer to the other team. unpredictable and hugely annoying.

instant respawn. killing people who are without shields because he just fought and killed you. this is the only problem, but it’s also the only one i saw coming. i haven’t noticed this being done to me, because it’s hard to tell, but my god i have done this multiple times to other players, and i can’t help feeling like a scumbag when i do it.

forge needs fine editing mode back on the left stick, for obvious reasons. magnets do not help when trying to merge objects accurately.

oh and custom options need a hell of a lot of improving. you can’t even change the weapon an infected carries. that one fact gets rid of a whole lot of brilliant gametypes that we all enjoyed playing in previous halo games. plus there is no race mode. wtf.

the good. the campaign is the best halo campaign yet in my opinion. and whilst i have bashed the multiplayer quite a bit, overall the movement and physics of your character have been vastly improved over reach, and sprint is a hell of a lot more fluid. bloom is gone, and AAs don’t really bother me that much in this game.

spartan ops is great, it’s as good as i knew it would be. i don’t like mindlessly killing AI without a reason, which is why firefight bored me, but the storyline of spartan ops is keeping me interested so far.

this game is a lot better than reach, and ultimately i’m happy with it, but i can tell it won’t have the longevity of halo 3 if certain things aren’t fixed, like customs. actually pretty much just customs. everything else, whilst i would love to see them fixed, i can live with.

343 have made a total cluster -Yoink- of a game that has so many issues it’s pathetic,

Given the time and resources they have at their disposal, i at least expected a Halo experience, but they have failed, epically!!!

I agree with everything you said. I stopped playing Slayer because it’s too annoying. I mostly play Dominion where there are no ordinance drops. This is still overall the best Halo yet.

Please elaborate…

My opinion is this is the best Halo yet. But would love to know why you feel it is a total cluster -Yoink!-

i disagree with almost every word you guys say. i find very little in halo 4 that i think counts as goin backwards. change is inevitable and fun . motion is more fluid ,weapons are more fun to use . ordinance is a -Yoink!- brilliant feature which if you think about it long enought…has to be random. i think some people say some -Yoink!- just to see their tag on waypoint .stop complaining about gettin wupped by unfortunate drops n learn to deal with it . i think 343 were trying to create this type of attitude amongst players n bleed out the the fossils

HAHA Thanks A LOT! I needed a good laugh.

I LOVE the ordinance system. I believe 343 has made some negative changes, but ordinance is not one of them.

I’ve always enjoyed the dynamics of using power weapons on the maps instead of only having loadouts like in CoD. I think ordinance makes that even more dynamic.

this is by far the worst halo yet and the online numbers support this. barley anybody is playing the game. they’ve already left to play other games or just not play at all

Ordinance drops are not a terrible idea, but they can be made more fair. Perhaps if the player was allowed to pick which 3 options popped up. There could be different tiers of ordinance drops. The first time you can only get like a speed boost, grenades, needle gun, stuff like that. But if you get a second drop in the same game, you get access to the SAW and some of the other powerful goodies. You can pick this stuff before the match, but you still have to earn the drops.

i can understand if the problems i stated for the multiplayer matchmaking don’t really bother you that much, as i said, even i can live with them, but you don’t agree that custom games options need an overhaul?

did you never play race? duck hunt? predator? ghost busters? and all the other classic custom games from previous games? almost all of them cannot be played anymore, and the potential of new ones being created has been severely neutered because of the lack of options.

and i’ve already said that i like the game quite a bit, and i’ve been playing since halo ce. it makes me wonder if you even got past the first paragraph of my post.

^ This.

If you guys want killstreak rewards why don’t you go play Call of Duty. Kill streak rewards are not what Halo is about. What seperates Halo from most games is the fact that the weapons are spread across the map and you have to control certain spots of the map in order to obtain them.

Now everyone just wants to be able to camp in the back, get 5 kills in a row, and be handed a rocket launcher. The new generation of Halo players are ruining this game and trying to change what made Halo, Halo.

The respawn time should probably be anywhere from 3 to 5 seconds… No instant re-spawn… It’s not cool to be able to get revenge on the guy who just killed you so easily OR put in an algorithm that puts the players far away from the guy who just killed him.

Join in progress should be removed… Every game I join and im losing I just quit out and restart the search until I get a fair game.

Im glad there is join in progress. My teammates have always quit on me, finally I get some back up.

Halo 2 = me vs entire team
Halo 3 = me vs entire team
Reach = me vs entire team
Halo 4 = me + new teammates vs entire team

Finally I have a chance of people joining and winning.

was think of a way to make it more fair since to many people are getting power weapons, just throwing the game balance out the window.
