Halo 4 the best Halo?

Hello!

Personally, Halo 4 isn’t the best HALO ever… Nothing can beat Halo 2! I think Halo 2 was the best Halo that I’ve ever played. The storyline was good.

But honestly, do you think Halo 4 is the best Halo? If not, which Halo is the best Halo?

Halo 4 is barely above Halo Reach.

Hardly surprising since 343 thought people actually wanted Reach V2.

In my opinion Halo 4 has the least impressive multiplayer of all Halo games. It’s not terrible… it’s just not as good as any other multiplayer, and this is partly due to an utter lack of variety and custom game options.

The only positive thing I can say about Halo 4, when comparing them against other Halo games, is that its Campaign isn’t as bad as Halo 2.

Halo 4 is good but I don’t think anything will ever beat Halo 3 for me. I just really want to see Halo 3 stat tracking return

It’s a story being told, hard to choose. Halo 4’s Campaign has been the only one that has touched me emotionally. Multiplayer needs some work, but that will come in time, people need to be patient. Overall Halo 4 is a very good start to the Reclaimer Trilogy. I can’t wait for 5 and 6.

i enjoy this game very much… I like it more then halo 3 to be honest.

Well this game has only been out for about two weeks so it is too early to tell if this game is truly the best Halo but I am really loving everything that I have seen so far.

Honestly, I ain’t even gonna be an elitist and hold onto bitter nostalgia, because I genuinely believe this to be the best Halo yet. I’m proud of 343, and have high hopes for the next two installments.

It’s too easy to dwell in retrospect and believe the prior titles to be superior, as memory has a tendency to over embellish things, however I find the previous games to be almost unplayable due to my standards being set at what Halo 4 has presented.

Because, this game am most good. Most good indeed.

Same, I actually think it’s leagues better than Halo 3.

The campaign is on par with Halo CE and the multiplayer is on par with Reach (despite it’s flaws I did love Reach’s multiplayer).

I HATED Halo 2 with a capital H. To me it was below the bottom of the barrel.

The campaign lost focus of the characters that mattered to put us in the boots (hooves?) of a filthy alien with a story that no one in their right mind would care about. So this Elite was disgraced, boo hoo. He should be dead like all the rest.

The multiplayer was a clusterfrak with ABYSMAL weapon balance. Why use anything other than the BR/Carbine? The pistols were worthless, the shotgun had no range even for a shotgun, the SMGs would get you laughed at, there was no Assault Rifle present, it was nuts. The game was skewed WAY in favor of precision weapons.

Then there were all the glitchers, modders, and all the lowlifes that blew your ears out with their yelling.

Well that came out more of a rant than I wanted. Bleh. Anyways to more pleasant notes I honestly think that Halo 3 is still top dog. Yes I enjoy Halo 4, but I just have so many fond memories of 3. The awesome music, the wide variety of weapons that each felt useful unlike H2, the epic battles like the dual Scarab fight, it was just sheer bliss. Oh yeah, plenty of ammo for guns in campaign unlike H4. -_-
Lots of good memories of multiplayer too, some bad ones as well but overall the good outweighed the bad.

Halo 4 is very close though, just needs a few adjustments and it’ll be all set to at least tie.

I LAN H1+H2 every month with my long-time Halo friends and its NOT nostalgia that makes them better. Its everything from mechanics, to physics, to power weapons, to the strategic flow, to maps, to individual skill, to being able to perform advanced glitches, to the -Yoinking!- grenades that make them superior in depth and replay-ability. Its real Halo for Halo fans, not the watered down -Yoink- we have today that tries to attempt to “feel” like Halo without actually being Halo. I would rather play one great game for years, than jump from one mediocre watered down shooter to the next like everyone else.

it beat out halo 3. Not in terms of gameplay, but more the strategy behind it in my opinion. Halo 4 is simply put, more intricate and better ballanced. It could use improvements to the mechanics and skill gap, but the combination of the campaign and variety in loadouts is far more inticing.

Yes, because Insta-respawn, default sprint, dynamic spawns, random ordnance, and one-shot sniper rifles is the mark of a strategic Halo game.

Ever heard of the metagame? Might want to brush up on an rts if you haven’t.

From a multiplayer point of view (campaign is fine in 4) I think it is the worst Halo.
I even enjoyed Reach more than 4, although 4 has more potential.
I really do not like the AA’s, instant spawning, ordnance weapon drop, JiP, sprint, not getting descoped etc.

I sincerely love Halo 4’s campaign, the ending SPOILERS made me cry, the multiplayer was alright, but nothing new or important enough to get me back to Halo 3’s multiplayer. I am also very butt hurt about how they didn’t add Forge World in as well and replaced it with not as big maps. Impact may be the only one that I find alright and Erosion is only really good for its Griffball court, but Ravine just lost my attention. All in all, Halo 4 is still a great game and I forget about all the minor flaws when I play its campaign and eat my popcorn whilst watching the cutscenes.

Im sure I know more about Halo’s meta-game than you do, and inconsistent systems, no element of map control, cluttered LOS lines and maps being too large, and insta-respawn+sprint has ruined the strategic nature of the game.

Bungie had a perfect and simplistic formula with Halo, and its just been thrown in the trash for a mesh-up of modern trends in a oldschool/unique game. Enjoy your Halo based on “points” and CoD-style gameplay, I will be playing the strategical and skill-based shooter that it was before this mess.

Excuse me everybody, but Halo CE was the best halo of ALLL TIME!

wellplayed sir. Just now, you failed hard. Not only did you avoid the point of my post entirely, but you relied on useless exagerations to prove whatever you wanted to prove because of nostalgia or whatever passes for willful denial these days. Halo has taken popular mechanics from the fps genre, get over it already.

Now, despite your apparent lack of knowledge, metagame refers to how you approach the maps, not only in strategic norms, but in the builds and loadouts you use. I really couldn’t care less on how stupid your hyperboles are, but at a more basic level you’re confusing ballancing and gameplay mechanics with a larger variety of practical choices. By practical choices, I mean very much unlike cod in that halo offers purposeful loadout options as opposed to redundant ones.

Halo 4 is good, not any better, not any wearse, the only problem I have with it is the multiplayer, and the unreasonable banning which i had to face, getting Perma banned, and doing nothing, you can even check my games…
