So I’ve read the all the books and watched the terminals and they dont seem to line up with the books. The first terminal doesnt makes sense at all. The librarian says the enemys need to be eradicated and the didact says no. we cant abandon the mantle but in the he ends up saying we are going to fight back. And when did this take place? before the cryptum book? And why does the didact transform? did he do another brevit mutation…??? and is this bornstellar? if so is the first didact shown in the first terminal the original didact? or born? its all yoinked up!
im guessing Silentium is going to answer some questions but still the first couple terminals don’t make sense at all…unless it all takes before cryptum and then they fast forward after primordium in the terminal where the librarian is talking to the master builder…who is supposed to be dead…idk
I’ll post the same thing here I did in your same thread in the Halo 4 forums:
The canon is absolutely not broken, it makes perfect sense if you take the time to understand it.
The first terminal takes place at the beginning of the Human-Forerunner War. The Didact and Librarian’s character both change throughout the course of the war. The Bornstellar Didact is, presumably, not in any of the Halo 4 terminals. The Didact tries mutating himself later on because he becomes obsessed with stopping the Flood.

Okay i understand that because thats what i originally thought, but if the didact is trying to mutate himself to prevent infection from the flood then it has to be the bornstellar didact because by then he had already defeated lord of admirals…thats what i find a problem with. they leave out little things like that.

It doesn’t have to be the Bornsteallar Didact, the Ur-Didact survived.
Why is it when something isn’t explained we scream “Breaks canon” I mean common sense dictates it will be explained later, maybe not today maybe not tomorrow but someday it will be explained all we need to be is patient, Silentium will give us answers, halo 5/6 will give us answers, Travis’s next book will give us answers.

There’s a big jump in the time setting for the terminals. The Didact tries mutating himself, presumably, after he is found on the Flood infested system, which is from the description for Silentium.
It actually works out quite well. People who’ve read the books know there’s a time jump, and those who haven’t read the books still get a complete story that makes sense because the time jump isn’t verbally stated.

interesting…but if the original didact survived and he is on the flood infested planted like you said then what about the bornstellar? and in the terminal he was on requiem with his prometheans…

^In the description he’s confirmed alive.
So the Original Didact was the only Didact in every Terminal video.
Am I making sense? I feel like I could be explaining this better, I’m sorry.

i think your wrong because the summary states “the Ur-Didact, treacherously abandoned in a Flood-infested system” that means the Ur didact isn’t in the terminals because he is alone. and almost in every terminal he is interacting with someone…so it is all born stellar didact in all the terminals except where he hasnt mutated…thats the Ur didact. Do u get me? =)

The first four are clearly the Ur-Didact, because they take place before Bornstellar is even, well, born.
As for the original being abandoned, it’s not impossible that he was found and got back to Requiem at some point.
Silentium is coming out soon. It should clear some questions up.

Actually, the Didact is most likely found and recovered from this Flood world.
In the description, the catalog sets out to collect information from all the Didacts. Which means they find all the Didacts.
Story wise it makes sense too. The Ur-Didact, after his horrible time on a Flood world sees this danger up close. So he becomes obsessed with finding a cure and defeating them. This is the Didact in the terminals, after he has been recoveed.
And another thing is, that a Didact also activated the Array. If one Didact was already locked up, then that confirmes that the Ur-Didact had to come back. Its not clear which one was locked up, but like I said before the Ur-Didact makes the most sejse. Especially after they showed his background with Humanity in the first few terminals.

What your basically saying is that the Bornstellar Didact was the Librarian’s Bitxh lol…we;; thanks for clearing that up makes sense…but still wondering what happened to the born didact i guess well find out in silentium.

I would answer my usual reply to this with “space magic”, but this is a little irritating (not in a bad way). OP, 343’s canon has made it clear that the Didact in the terminals IS the ur-didact. For whatever reason Bornstellar doesn’t appear, I don’t know, but the Didact did a partial brevet mutation to make himself ugly (but also badass looking too) and with orange lights for eyes by engineering his DNA to make himself able to be stable with the Composer’s transformation and immune to the flood, unfortunately, the experiment made him immune to the composer, still vulnerable to flood, and ugly (three things he didn’t want I would assume, no wonder why the Librarian isn’t talking to him). The Librarian had a different opinion in the first terminal because she was just trying to maintain the mantle and keep the other races safe, but after she discovered they attacked with reason, she was impressed how they were protecting the other living creatures of the galaxy.
Most of all, it’s not -Yoinked!- up, it’s a fantastic story. No offense or anger meant in this reply, just thought I’d answer your question.
Yeah I was bit surprised by the librarian’s initial reaction too, but the Terminals are summarizing a greater period of time than the Forerunner novels cover, and with much less time.
That being said, her and the didact’s positions effectively flipped over the course of the terminals, though dont forget this is over hundred of years, even if 100’s of years is like a few days to them.
The Didact started off as the benevolent knight protector of the ecumene, and was forever changed by a difficult conflict. Whereas the librarian saw merely an enemy, and later realized that things were not so simple.
