Ok so this is just an idea I had and is not the real deal (unless 343i likes it). Ok The year is 2590 nearly 38 years after master chief enters cryo sleep he wakes up to find that his ship [his part of the ship any way] is drifting towards some unknown shield world. So chief finds a drop pod and uses that to escape the exploding ship. He lands on the outer side and almost instantly he discovers the outside of the shield world is infested with flood!
Also he finds out that he did make it through the portal but the portal sent him to a different location. Chief finds covenant remains such as viehicles, weapons ect And that a covenant supercarrier crashed here. Chief fights the flood with weapons from his ship (which is now scattered across the shield world)covenant weapons and sentinal beams…chief locates a working banshee, boards it, and heads towards a tunnel that leads to the inner side of the shield world. He then sees what appear to be cities! Just then his ship begins to turn towards the largest city and is pulled in by a tractor beam. He is pulled into what appears to be a hanger and is met by an unknown species which can speak english.
They begin to talk and they tell him that when he came through the tunnel he let the flood through in as well. So chief helps these people to fight the flood and when they have secured a small area chief is taken back to the large city and the people tell him that they are taking him to there leader. When chief meets there leader he discovers it’s a covenant prophet (probably from the crashed supercarrier)who is trying to convince the people to use the vast amount of forrunner ships to find and fire halo. While chief is in some sort of a palace he discovers these people are the indexed forrunners. When the prophet sees chief he orders the forrunners to kill him. But chief escapes. Chief fights his way outside and finds a forrunner dropship and takes off. The forrunners follow in some other ships and try to shoot him down .
as soon as chief gets out the forrunners give up and return to the capital city. Chief drop ship which took a lot of damage crashes near the supercarrier. the smoke still pouring from the wreckage of the supercarrier kept the flood away but with the chief crashing the flood is automatically drawn to him when the chief gets cornered and is just about to die a pelican gets just close enough for him to jump in. the dropship is from the spirit of fire [NOW BEFORE YOU SAY “OH GREAT ANOTHER ONE OF THESE HALO WARS FREEKS” AND GO BACK TO THE MAIN FORUMS LISTEN I THINK IS POSSIBLE THAT THE SPIRIT OF FIRE, WHILE IT WAS TRYING TO RETURN TO EARTH PICKED UP CHIEFS BEACON AND TRYS TO HELP, OK BACK TO THE STORY]and the spirit of fire sends troops down to the supercarrier where they discover a captured human ship and they salvage a slipspace drive ,hook it up fly towards earth when chief and sof get to earth chief gets as many ships as he can to form a strike force and they head back to shield world but just as they get there and are planing to attack a huge tunnel opens and a portal forms just outside the tunnel .
the fleet almost emmediately follows when they come out of the portal they are at a halo ring [installation 02] and begin a ground battle. When it become clear that the forrunners are winning the unsc calls all personal to there ships chief is given a long sword ond defends the sof. The halo ring begins its firing sequence and justbefore the fleet is ordered to evac anders from spirit of fire suggests that all the ships should jump into slipspace right next to the halo ring ,because if the ring jumps too and fires in slipspace it will destroy itself. Everyone agrees and when the jumped to slispace the ring followed and fired destroying itself however much of the forunners managed to escape.
Many of the unsc ships have been damage or lost sof which containes chief is one of the lost ones. When the sof comes out of slip space they nearly hit a covenant corvette and then they see that they came out of slip space right next to the brute home world which is where whats left of the covenant is regrouping . then halo 5 starts.
