Okay, so I recently visited the halo waypoint website to view my halo 4 stats. I noticed that my spartan, including my friends’ spartan avatars, do not appear. It isn’t like this on my xbox 360, only the computer. Even other peoples’ avatars don’t appear. The weirdest part is that this morning, it was fine. Only problem that I have been having ever since I began halo was that halo 4 stats avatar is a red recruit spartan. But, lets just focus on the spartan not appearing. Hope this is fixed soon.
Oh, nevermind. Looks like I can see the spartan avatar in the stats, but it’s still showing up as a red recruit spartan.

Addressing the issue of the disappearing avatars, I am glad to hear that you’re sorted on that. 
Addressing the issue of the red Recruit Spartan showing up for you, as per the FAQ, :
4GB consoles: Halo 4 uses the hard drive to cache and store the altered image and save that image to our services used by Waypoint to display the update. Unfortunately without a hard drive, this update process does not occur.
If you do not have a 4GB console and are still experiencing this issue, make sure you are changing your Spartan armor in the main lobby and not during the search phase.
