So from what I read, this specific mode is replacing Firefight, and will be sent out in episodic segments via Xbox Live. I also read that it will be free and available to Gold Members. That makes some sense, especially at first as these things roll out. My question is whether or not having Gold at all times is essential to play the game mode. I go on and off Gold membership depending on my school workload (I’m in grad school) and my friend/family’s subscription status. So I’d probably have Gold for three months and then download these Spartan Ops missions, but once my Gold expired, could I still play what downloaded missions I had up to that point? You know, solo?
If this is replacing Firefight, that mode was usually used for multiple players, but there were plenty of times I booted it up just to play through some rounds on my own. I haven’t heard anything released about the specifics for Spartan Ops in this way… It makes sense to me to have it for Gold members first, but not much sense to have it exclusively-all-the-time-Gold ya know? I’m pretty sure I read you can play Ops solo, and if that’s the case, why would I need Gold just for me to play alone, months after all the missions are released?
