Halo 4 Spartan Ops Difficulty Getting Harder

When I was recently playing Spartan Ops, I noticed the enemies were much harder to kill. Higher-ranking enemies were almost impossible to kill, and are impossible to kill when they have an Energy Sword. Is this because I have completed Spartan Ops and the game is making it harder, or is it a hidden setting?

No, its because 343 have turned on the Mythic Skull (with increases the ranks of all enemies in the mission) as well as the IWHBYD and Grunt Birthday party skulls. This is, and that all missions are now on Legendary difficulty, is the reason enemies are harder to kill.

It is not on multiplayer, it is solo. Would mythic still be on? If so, that is extremely horrible…

I just checked, and there is no way to turn it off. Any ideas, anyone?

343 has to turn it off.

Wow, that is horrible.

When are they going to turn that off? I played through the campaign recently on coop with my girlfriend (who’s a beginner) and she wanted to start Spartan Op for the story, but that mythic skull is a bit much for her.

Spartan ops was only fun solo, because otherwise you experienced lag to the point of unplayability. Now I guess they’ve screwed that up too. Btw, when is season 2 going to be released, could anyone tell me?

Probably never for that release date.
Not all missions are on legendary. To set your difficulty for it, do a solo mission with your choice setting. Any net games in SpOps you join after will be the same difficulty.

Spartan Ops is, for the most part, dead. 343i just pays it some lip service every now and again, but they’ve otherwise abandoned the project.

Besides, with Halo 5 coming up, they have no free personnel to make a Season 2. Let’s just hope they actually make a decent Spartan Ops in Halo 5.

This.

I’m actually starting to miss Spartan Ops… I’ve been playing Firefight in Halo:Reach while I wait for them to get rid of the skulls. But while I love Firefight, Spartan Ops has a lot of things Firefight never had; like the big vehicle battles with the Scorpion, Mantis, and Banshee.

Not enjoying Spartan OPs much tonight…

Firstly I found a game with only 2 others since the population is low. Neither of the players did much, one quit out a few mins in and the lag was bad so I quit too.

Secondly, I thought I’d try some solo and it appears the skulls are applied there too! I like the idea of having skulls in Spartan OPs but we should at least be able to switch them off in Solo mode.

I think 343i is emulating Apple a little too much. “Here’s the options we think everyone should use, and we’re disabling everything else”.

I posted in another thread what I wished Spartan Ops had done, and/or what a version 2.0 would be. And I think, considering they were using the Halo Reach engine, there’s no reason it couldn’t have been done this way:

Spartan Ops / Firefight combo options:

No way to disable easily in custom. When they upload the missions, they’re the same files. I have noted my concerns.

Four more weeks and skulls are gone I think.

Bull. It doesn’t take the entire organization to create SpOps chapters. Just a dedicated group.

Lets not forget they outsource a lot of their work. They’re also Microsoft and supposedly world class developers as Frankie put it somewhere here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Mn_oofBamw

Wait…they forcibly enabled skulls that you can’t turn off even for solo play? I was just about to start a second run through of the entirety of Spartan Ops solo, but if the skulls will be active even while I play alone I won’t bother. Jesus Christ, this is -Yoink-. Do they have some kind of problem with people having fun with their game? Why would they forcibly enable skulls that make the game so difficult it isn’t fun, and not allow you to turn them off for solo play? Every time I think they’ve reached some sort of pinnacle at giving their fans the finger, they outdo themselves.

To make Spartan ops more refreshing.
One can argue about it working or not. I’ve been playing on easy recently instead of heroic or legendary.
Edit: I said hard instead of legendary…

So they should have only turned it on for matchmaking. I’m pissed that I can’t play a normal game alone now.

I’m trying to say that they can’t, easily. Since its the same files.
David Ellis says, “@erickyboo No way to split it, they’re all the same files when you log on. I don’t believe we intend to keep them on permanently.”
Then I told him how I had played 10 days of and several hours of Spartan ops.

I play lots of Spartan ops so since skulls are in, I’m focusing on war games more right now (I need 102 plasma pistol kills to master it for instance)
