Halo 4 Soundtracks, and how they will be?

This is a question that’s been bothering me for quite a while…

As a great Halo fan, I find most of my gamemusic being Martys work and that’s great. However, Marty always thought of Halo 1 - 3 as this huge glorious space opera, with tons of instruments and alot of string instruments.

How do you think 343 will develope with a new music producer? From what I’ve seen… (heard) Especially from the teaser, the munks have a “darker” tone when they perform the “Halo Chorus”.

From what we’ve seen from the concept art video it also has a more… “military, mysterious and ominous” tone. Atleast from what I can tell. You can probably analyse this in more ways, but it seems they move away from this whole “glorious space concert”, yet again, this might just be trying and failing.

What do you guys think, or hope? What would you like to see fit as the new score that’ll surround the next installment in the Halo Franchise?

Its a new composer and a new trilogy so something new seems appropriate. Considering he’s Japanese I only have the utmost respect for anything he makes. He said he wants it to sound like Halo. So thats a good sign, but obviously he’s going to put his own spin on things. So this should be interesting to see.

Got to love the Japanese, their music is the bomb.

I believe the term was “Galactic space opera”.

My opinion, is that there should be some songs that really get you into the mood to fight, while the majority should have the same halo mystery, wrapped into a lingering feeling of “Oh well this can’t be good.”

Where do you hear military in the concept trailer? All I hear is the mystery and ominous vibes. Military is like Reach’s music.

Anyway, I liked the cencept teaser trailer’s music because it fit the tone, which WAS mysterious and dark. Thism, I believe, is what 343i is going for, and less galactic space opera. More like Halo 1 then anything, in that they bring the feel of exploration and discovery in a mysterious world back.

I think the new head of the score will be great, based on what 343i has said.

Boom. Necromanced.

OT: I think the music for Halo 4 really has potential, listen to this:

Some really cool sh*t right there. I hope they still feature the classics though, I missed them in ODST and Reach.

I actually didn’t really like that one. Not that I hated it, but I just didn’t like it.

I don’t know, I guess I found it kind of shallow and pointless…

To be honest, I’m actually glad that they’re using a new guy for the music. Sure, Marty is great and all, but he’s been writing Halo music for 10 years now, so he must definitely be getting bored of it all by now. If he were to go on for 10 more years, there wouldn’t be as much love put into it.

In plus, a new trilogy should have a new composer anyway, so that the games have a new feel to them.

I wonder who the new composer is… I recall someone from 343i saying he/she is famous in the composing industry. Maybe we can guess it?

Well I know the guy who did the Metal Gear Solid 4 soundtrack is the sound director at 343 Industries, but it seems that he isn’t the composer if last week’s bulletin is to be believed.

If I were to pick somebody to do the soundtrack for the new trilogy, it would be the composer for Mass Effect 1 and 2 (Jack Wall, I believe). This wouldn’t surprise me if it were true, since he isn’t returning for Mass Effect 3 for whatever reason.

That’s right… TO THE INTERNET!

EDIT: Went to Jack Wall’s website, apparently he is a co-founder and Vice President of this. The website just so happens to have a Halo 3 background.

Coincidence? I think so.

He is persuing other projects… Halo 4, maybe? Joining a series that is highly acclaimed for its music seems probable for Jack Wall. From what I’ve learned about him in the past 5 minutes at least.

I come to this conclusion: there is no solid evidence, but it may very well be true. Hell, why not? He is supposedly one of the bigger video game composers, Halo deserves the best- which it, sadly, can’t get with Marty over at Bungie- so the second best would have to suffice. The question is, is he the second best?

Composer’s name is Sotaro Tojima.

I believe we are in good hands. His arrangements on Circle of the Moon are fantastic.

No, he’s the audio director. BS Angel (or was it Kiki) said in the last Bulletin that she “loves listening to the music by the soon to be revealed composer” or something along those lines.

IMDB aren’t well known as a gaming site. This is a mistake, clearly- they seemed to imply that he is the composer back in the Halo 4 panel of Halo Fest but now they seem to imply the direct opposite. Weird stuff.

If there is a sad part in Halo 4 like Cortana dies or Arbiter tried helping MC and Cortana but died due something horribly,

They should have this song playing

XD

And this when we encounter a huge dangerous BOSS

Can’t tell since Marty making any of the soundtracks.
