While it should be bought (Sadly not coming with LE), I think that, like Halo 3’s music, Halo 4’s music (Which hopefully creates a new, amazing main theme) should be allowed to be used freely.
Oh, so Halo:CE, Halo 2, Wars and ODST don’t matter? Just Halo 3 & 4’s?
It shouldn’t be free in my opinion. It’s an OST soundtrack, it isn’t free material.

Halo 3 was the one which could be used freely.
I didn’t say it should be free - Halo 3 soundtrack had to be paid for. I’m saying that once you pay for it, you should be able to use it anywhere, without getting copyright infringements. This happened to the Halo 3 soundtrack.
I never payed for any of the halo soundtracks…if you catch my meaning.
Marty O Donnel will always make the best music for Halo.
As for Halo 4, if you want the music, buy it and cite Microsoft/343i. You think you deserve a free copy because you “want to make a machinima”.
Wow, guys are at your throat!
I think he means it would be helpful for Machinima’s, he’s not saying he deserves a free copy for his Machinima.
I think you should edit your OP to make your meaning clearer. I know you’re not asking them to release it for free but others seem to be confused.
For those of you who don’t know, Martin O’Donnell, Michael Salvatori and Microsoft have given those who have purchased the Halo 3 soundtrack permission to use it for anything as long as they make no money off it. This includes Machinima. The OP is asking for the same agreement to be made in regards to the Halo 4 OST.
I like it how the Conductor for the halo 4 music also did the music for:
The Dark Knight
Inception
Black Swan
I hope 343 did a link to the free music download like what Bungie did with lone wolf
