As an experienced Halo player I would normally bash the game for its step back in MP mechanics but the soundtrack is one of the best/probably the best of all of the Halo games.

Yes, I’ll agree with you. The Halo 4 soundtrack has a more Halo Reclaimer saga feel to it. 
While I do prefer the classic tunes of Marty O’Donnell, I do think that Neil Davidge and Kazuma Jinnouchi did very good, way better than most people think. Its hard to capture the sound of the old Halos, but they came close, while giving their own unique sound. Lets not forget the subtle nods to old music: the nods to One Final Effort in several of Kazuma’s music (like 117, Mantis, Sacrifice, and Wreckage), the old Halo theme chorus when Chief goes to Installation 03, and the strings from the Reach Overture in Intruders.
tl;dr: Halo 4 had a great soundtrack, and I can’t wait for what comes next.
I like it a lot as well. Davidge and Jinnouchi did an amazing job. It doesn’t feel classic at all but it is enjoyable at best. In fact, I don’t think I favorited so many songs from other Soundtracks on Youtube before.
