Halo 4 Sniper MECHANICS

How should it work? Like in H3 or in Reach? Reach came before H3 in Halo time, but the sniper rifle is better! How is this possible? Technology is supposed to improve over the course of time. So do you think the H4 Sniper Rifle will be better than H3 or worse than H3?

The main difference in the reach sniper was that as long as the bullet was going towards the persons head it would be a headshot.

Example. A player is jumping above you to the right. The bullet enters through their right shoulder but exits through the back of the head. In H3 it would have been a shoulder shot, but in Reach it would be a headshot.

I preferred the Halo 3 sniper, t took some skill to use and not every CoD pro picked it up and tried to be cool. In Halo 3, the people who used the sniper could snipe, even moving targets, and were good, but not k/d boosters or campers looking for cheap kills, they were more guardian angels who took out dangerous enemies or killed their shield when they got the drop on you.
In Reach, the sniper is so easy to use even my Mom can handle it, and she’s not even playing FPS games. It’s fast, it got plenty of ammo, respawns quick, got insane accuracy, is hitscan, does kill even if the shot misses but the player runs/moves into the trajectory, like a Spartan laser in Halo 3.

I want a sniper worth the name, not a death.beam machine gun with auto aim.
It should be powerful (not against vehicles) but have limited ammo and slow fire rate, also the bullet ought to drop at distances so that you actually would have not aim to get a kill, and have some degree of skills.
Anyhow, anything is better then the Reach snipers, it’s so easy to use it’s not even fun.

From what you’re asking I am going to say it is because Reach was released after Halo 3 so Bungie had a lot of time to improve their netcode… That is pretty much it, because of an improvement it software in the real world.

  1. Aim
  2. Fire

While partly, it is also because Bungie got lazy and decided to use hitscan for measuring shots. Hitscan means that, so long as your crosshair is on target, the bullet will hit. (If the bullet travels instantly. This doesn’t work for rockets and stuff, obviously.) That is why the Halo Reach sniper is so easy to use - You don’t need to lead your shots anymore.

I prefer Halo 3’s, as it requires much more skill. However, Halo 4 is using Hitscan, so I doubt it will happen.

I really wish there wasn’t hitscan… having to predict the movements of enemies across the map and sniping ahead of time takes much more skill and is more realistic. It would add a nice touch to the game.

You do realise that the Halo: Reach sniper rifle has NO aim assist/auto aim, right?

And in answer to the OP,
Well see, Halo: Reach came out in 2010.
Halo 3 came out in 2007. The game mechanics are going to be improved because Halo: Reach came out later.
