Halo 4 Smartglass demo

Anyone else interested how far 343i is taking the smart glass concept with halo? and who else loved the small bit of multiplayer?

we have already recieved a few small bits of multiplayer to where i dont care until its a full video.

I dont care about smartglass, unless i can use party chat from my PC. my xbox is for gaming, not tv or anything.
The only cool looking thing it did was the madden playmaker.

what is smartglass and where was the multiplayer?

> what is smartglass and where was the multiplayer?

smartglass is some integration between windows phones and tablets to xbox…and it was literally 4 seconds of multiplayer, mostly consisted of an assassination.

It kind of like what they did with ATLAS for Reach, but just a big step boyond that.

And I like that. It means you can get extra information on the go. Check what friends are doing etc etc etc.

And that’s just in Halo.
Imagine what it can do for other games. Basically MS made the WiiU irrelevant with this.
Chances of somebody owning a 360 also having a smartphone or tablet of any brand are almost 100% I guess…which also means EVERYBODY can use this without having to buy a new console/controller for it.

As a Dutchman I can care less about Madden, but it does give a good indication of how this should be implemented. And just wait a year and you’ll see great things popping up. Just like you now finally see developers using Kinect in a good way in core games (Splinter Cell is another great example after Forza 4 and ME3).

Smartglass is a program xbox is creating that connects your phone, tablet, and xbox and was shown later in the coverage. They also showed what looked like the new multiplayer loading screen.

actually, it wont make wii u irrelevant, partly because tablets cost 500 bucks, phones cost around the same unless you get a contract, and the wii u controller is practically its own console…and it has integrated buttons and joysticks, and is the centerpiece of wii u technology, so they are spending much more time on it.

I actually think the concept is pretty cool, even more so with the fact that we don’t have to buy anything extra.

> actually, it wont make wii u irrelevant, partly because tablets cost 500 bucks,

Yet people buy them because they like gadgets. Apple fanboys happily dish out 5-600 dollars each year for a new iPad.

> phones cost around the same unless you get a contract,

Don’t know where you’re from, but here in the Netherlands nearly EVERYBODY has a contract for their mobile phones. Almost everybody uses smartphones over here. So that is no problem at all.

> and the wii u controller is practically its own console…and it has integrated buttons and joysticks, and is the centerpiece of wii u technology, so they are spending much more time on it.

Only thing lacking on tablets and phones are physical buttons and sticks.
Look at what the new iPad does in terms of visuals etc…if developers make a game for the 360, but implement a (free to download) app plug in for tablets/smartphones to go with it you still get the same idea as with the WiiU.

And you’d still don’t have to buy an entirely new console for that…Better yet: social media integration for instance? Sure: the WiiU has its advantages over what MS is doing with Smartglass, but MS has some other advantages that arent there for the WiiU because the latter is made specifically for games (and Nintendo never was much of a star with online functionalities)
