Weather you agree or not the story leading up to halo 4 must be shown in some light .In the latest installment of the Xbox magizine they interviewed Frank . The question was asked how lost will new fans of the series be ? . He responded by saying they had that covered . I believe That one way to do this would be to have the story of the first 3 games play out in the side of the screen during the main menu .Somthing like this fan made Halo 4 trailer but like i said instead of the Halo 4 concept art it would be The story of the first 3 Halo games . Here is a link to the fan made menu . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtTH0vFzpDo . So disscuss your thoughts on how will the basic story of the first 3 Halo games be tought to the next genneration of Halo fans ?
Oh and if you are wondering why they even need to be told dont you find a Halo campaign funner if you know what happened before or atlest have a small grasp on the story ?
The three main games still exist. Halopedia exists.
> The three main games still exist. Halopedia exists.
People don’t want to buy a extremely dated game from 8 years ago. And 343 needs to take into account what if Halopedia got shout down.

That’s like saying nobody wants to watch the original trilogy of Star Wars if they just got into the franchise because those movies are from the 70’s onward. People still do that. If Halopedia is shut down then they could use Waypoint.
perhaps 343 should develop a sort of Halo information centre, available on the xbox, computer and mobile devices with all Halo related content, info and community created content…oh wait
If you are a new fan you ARE going to want to know the story . A new fan may not know abought Waypoint .Now if they saw on the menu the story of the first trilogy they would be intriged of what chief has already gone through as they play Halo 4 .

This
Who the heck buys a game specifically labeled the 4th installment in a franchise without somehow finding out the story so far. It’s not that hard to do. 343 should just tell the story of Halo 4 and make the gameplay fun, not make it feel clunky with flashbacks or what not. How are you going to tell the story on the menu screen? With visuals only? I prefer simple menus.
I remember Frankie said from the podcast or an interview (honestly I don’t remember which at the moment) that new players wouldn’t need to play the previous games to get into Halo 4’s story. That could mean that they’ll include some type of summary in the new game, perhaps a motion comic to sum up the previous games or a time line like in Halo Wars.
No. Just no. Play Halo Anniversary, play Halo 2 (Anniversary?), and Halo 3. There you go. The story of the original trilogy.
I agree this would be a nice touch and a much easier to access all in one way to have a recap on whats recently happened, while Halo Conflict is doing an amazing job filling in lots of little bits of information. I think a nice replay of the cinematic’s would suffice.
I’ve linked a bunch of Youtube video’s below to help recap some of the storyline for anyone needing a quick brush up, none of these video’s are mine and I don’t believe I’ve broken any rules for posting this info.

Halo: The Fall Of Reach Trailer
Or… You could just watch the cutscenes from all of the above links,
I’ll be watching them all over again but it would be nice if 343 could place this a little more in the open for people who want to find it.
There are always collectables like terminals and other possible stuff. I’d prefer to see Halo4 stuff on the menus.
It’d be awesome if while in Cryo, John was having flashbacks/dreams about the events that lead up to Halo 4. Being abducted, being turned into a Spartan, fighting the Covenant, escaping Reach, destroying Alpha Halo ect all the way up to the end of Halo 3. All this would be in an intro cutscene before the Chief wakes up.
I think that if 343 Industries concentrate on making the Reclaimer trilogy a somewhat self-contained story, with echoes of previous Halo titles, then it won’t in any way detract from the experiences of new players. After all, Combat Evolved began in medias res, and that didn’t make anyone feel alienated. What the new games need to do is not show new players exactly what happened in the old games, but give them such high levels of enjoyment that those players find themselves deliberately seeking out the story of the original games.
Theres a simple solution for this:
It seems Waypoint is telling the Halo Universe through it’s frequent videos ‘The Halo Conflict’ in which tell the story building up to Halo 4. You’ve also got all off the other information regarding the games on waypoint. Waypoint just so happens to be instantly accessible from an Xbox 360 console. Halo 4 could easily incorporate in the ‘possible’ extra’s feature a "Halo Timeline’ which takes you straight to Waypoint/ asks the player to download, and this appropriate section.
I’m not saying the game itself should have no reason to prompt the player ‘briefly’ on past events, but this is an effective and efficient way of doing so without any direct influence within the campaign. It also promotes Waypoint for players who do not have it/ no about it/ or not a former fan to the franchise, in which case spreading 343i’s product and popularity.
Off Topic: If Waypoint is not integrated into Halo 4 in some way I will be very surprised.

Um, People still buy Homeworld, Command and Conquer, StarCraft, Timesplitters, Pokemon, digimon; and a vast of other “Extremely outdated Games”. And You can then go by an “Extremely outdated book” if that happens (Which it is now).
not sure if you know but there is something called Halo Waypoint. you’re on it right now and it just happens to have every single piece of info about Halo you can possibly need to know the entire universe. just saying.
Ah touche! With all this hype about Halo: 4 and they haven’t done much more then tease us yet everyone is dying to know more.
I’m sure that if they are as heart felt about Halo as we are then will have done just that and enticed anyone who didn’t previously know about the series to go back through and learn more.
I’ve already played Halo:CE -> Halo: Reach (Excluding Halo Wars sadly) and I still want to buy the books just to learn that extra bit of depth into the story. I guess if there is one true thing to the series that has me always coming back for more it’s the intricate yet mysterious storyline as well as the entire back-story from event’s we know nothing about.
I appreciate your response about being on Waypoint and all but to the best of my knowledge this Waypoint website we’re on right now doesn’t have a compiled database of all of the cinematic cutscenes for the Halo games released to date. However they do have an extensive ammount of information relating all of these titles.
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong but please do link me to the section where you find these video’s if I have been mistaken.

The series has currently just recently started, by the time Halo 4 is released I presume a fair bit if not all of the ‘main’ events leading up to Halo 4 have been covered.
