Halo 4 shouldve included a UNSC VS. Convenant

Halo Reach had it’s invasion mode, so Halo 4 shouldve took it a step forward.
It would have been awesome if Halo 4 had a class based defense vs. Offense mode with each class having a predetermined class. Imagine defending a base against an onslaught of actual players controlling different classes of the Covenant such as players actually having the ability to control Grunts, Elites, Hunters, Jackals, Jackal Snipers, Drones (which weren’t in Halo 4). Maybe 343 couldve allowed players to also control enemies such as the Battlewagon Knights and the other promethean Knights. It would have been thrilling being able to teleport around the battle field and making someone distintegrate with the sword the Promethean Knight has.
some of you might be saying it wouldn’t work because some of these enemy types could be overpowered, but players should be able to use them when they collected enough ordinance points. Like have the hunters available to control as the last tier. Imagine playing as a grunt who has the AA ability to go Kamikaze on players? Or destroying people with a hunters fuel Rod cannon while being nerfed since Hunters has no regenerating shields?
Lets not forget the UNSC side. There should be 5 predetermind classes, such as Scout class with Sprint, Promethean Vision, DMR, Pistol and the Soldier class, Spawning with the sticky detonator and Assault rifle. Medic Class: Regenerator field, Sprint, Pistol, Shotgun. For the brawler class: Assault Rifle, Boltshot, Ammo, Grenadier. Then for the upper tier, the Demolition Class, a loadout that is able to spawn with the rocket launcher cause remember there are hunters out their in this game mode.
People might this this can break gameplay, but I think it’s the opposite because since everyone starts with different loadouts, there would be a different feel to the game.
What do people think?

invasion would be a mode in wargames. wouldn’t this thread be better suited in the matchmaking forum?

Not possible, elites aren’t a playable race in halo 4. If they had somethign similar to horde mode from gears of war 3 that could be fun. Start either as a grunt or crawler, move up the chain of command. I never could get as high as berserker in gears. It would be super overpowered to be a covenant though, just imagine spawning as a grunt with frgs that shoot 10x faster than normal?

What do I miss about Invasion? Elite Assassinations. Especially the ones where you drop kick spartans.

well for one thing, playing as the Covenant doesn’t follow war games’ new canonical relevance

i.e it would be unrealistic for Spartans to play as elites for training purposes

I think that it should be Spartan IV’s versus Promethean Knights only really. Spartans only starting out with one class at first then moving onward in weapons as a certain phase is completed. Imagine the “Invasion” gametype as an attack on the Infinity by the Prometheans. So awesome…

@Twizzsted: While playing as Covies may not fit with this current canonical setting, how does flood fit as well? That I never understood.

It would make more sense than Spartans fighting Spartans. Unless a civil war breaks out that experience won’t be as useful as practicing fighting Elites.

Remember, in war you always want to know how your enemy can and will fight. Knowing how to fight yourself isn’t valuable unless you’re planning on switching sides.

I’m all for being able to control a watcher. I would fly in circles weee

They put the flood training simulation in in order to prepare the spartans for a possible future outbreak, something which I could see happening in Halo 5/6.

How training in infecting as much spartans helps, however, is a mystery to me. You definitely don’t want to create a potential host with quite some experience in infecting others before it even started rampaging.

Oh well, that’s the best I can think of at the moment.

EDIT: typo

I shared your opinion (minus te elite player type) when halo 4 first game out. My opinion has changed since then I miss invasion, but I think I have more fun playing Dominion now.
