Halo 4 should push the 360 to its limits

This being highly likely the last Halo game on the Xbox 360 i believe maxing out the capabilities of the console (higher player cap, bigger maps, better graphics, etc.) would be a great way to appreciate this game even more and make 343 gain a good deal of respect and people will start having high hopes for there games. I want them to go out with a bang…

I disagree.

Funny, Bungie said Reach was pushing the 360 to it’s limit as well. Maybe 343i can push it even further to maximum power.

Reach looks amazing now. And even look at BF. I think Halo 4 “Like all other Halo Games” will look amazing and even if it doesn’t look much better than Halo: Reach we Halo fans can at least say it looks better than CoD.

I honestly don’t think it’ll improve graphic wise. Reach already causes annoying framerate drops.

They should push it as much as BF3 did.

Then 343 would probably have to get rid of splitscreen and decrease the draw distance.

I honestly think reach is as far as it can go without looking too realistic. IMO i think part of that “halo feel” is its unrealistic-ness.

OMFG Why? Why do some gamers have to be so stupid…

WTF are graphics worth to you people? Massive screen lag, 2ft draw distance, minimum on screen action, etc…

Pushing the 360 to it’s “limits” would still leave you with a game that is several generations behind current technology and in all reality doesn’t look that amazing.

God I hate the “good” graphics mindest.

Who gives a flying -Yoink- how it looks?

Gameplay > Graphics.

The last thing I want is for my console to keep crashing because after 16 hours playing the game, this so called “343 industries” decided to go and blow it all up.

How dare you say such a thing??

I honestly don’t even know why Bungie bothered with splitscreen in Reach. The draw distance is terrible along with all the graphical glitches.

what you’re not thinking about is how that would affect the older versions of the 360…i have an old one, and maxed out halo 4 would KILL it

Graphics do not make it a good game, it can make it a pretty or good looking game, but by no means does graphics make it a good game. Technology and development has reach a point where graphical realism is more a money sink and detracts from other parts of a game. I’d much rather have great story and gameplay over super realistic graphics any day.

… You do realize that the performance of the hardware between new - old Xbox 360s don’t differ, right?

This is really one of the small things that made Halo what it is today. I play split-screen A LOT with guest/friends/family the graphic glitches weren’t very bothering. I choose split-screen for the cost of a few visual downgrades any day.

Graphics don’t make a game, gameplay does.

Thank you! I need to find more people like this, who are above the average 360 gamer mindset.

Graphics mean nothing with boring gameplay. Reach’s campaign was a pile of boring crap, but its graphics were fantastic! Was it, as a game, fantastic? Absolutely…not! Halo 2 had many graphical errors. Was it boring? No, I cant think of a bettter game.

Now, since most people on these forums like to this, I shall partake too: using another game as an example. Skyrim had amazing graphics, but it (like all Elder Scrolls games), was god-awful. But it did, i admit, have amazing graphics. This didnt stop making it a terrible game. Especially since they only used the graphics to cover everything in dirt. Literally. Everything had an inch layer of -Yoink!- It would have been more efficient and less cruel to my eyes to just use a sepia coloring, since thats all they seemed to have used the graphics for.

Anyway, Halo 4 should push the 360 to its maximum GAMEPLAY capabilities. It should be more fun to PLAY and CONTROL, not LOOK out, not WATCH, but fun to EXIST IN.

Halo 3 is still my favourite 360 title of all time. Why? Because of the gameplay. The graphics aren’t amazing, but they are colourful and clear! Reaches graphics are good, but dull and boring.
