Halo 4 should be lighter

Halo 3 had the best lighting and graphical polish. Reach was too dark and felt gritty. I know that was the plan for Reach, but I prefer light. It make Halo feel homey.

Reach was the best looking Halo by a landslide in terms of graphical quality and lighting.

You are talking about art direction, that is an entirely different thing.

Definitely, Halo 4 should have the more colorful art style of Halo 3. Whether it was cartoony or not, it still made Halo 3 to stand out from the crowd and also looked much much better than any grey modern shooter could ever look no matter how hyper realistic graphics it had. 343i should take a colorful art direction, it just makes things so much more beautiful.

This^

I heard a rumor that Halo 4 would be a brighter story than Reach, Halo 5 will be very dark and Halo 6 will finish the fight, again.

Almost guaranteed to happen. The only reason Reach went for the look it did is because it was supposed to be all about a gritty military war, whereas Halo 4 is more themed on exotic exploration.

you mean colorful? I agree that halo 3’s art style made it look in some ways more beautiful than reach, especially when checking out maps like sandtrap, guardian, avalanche, ghost town, and cold storage, but overall, reach is visually superior. I mean check out the long night of solace, when you’re in the corvette. The covenant architecture is absolutely gorgeous. Better yet, roam around in some of the anniversary maps. They are absolutely beautiful.

Yeah. I hate to pull the same card in a 24 hour period but I dont see how, graphically, Halo 3 is better than Halo Reach. It’s like saying Gears of War 1 had better graphics and lighting than Gears 3. Or that Oblivion has better graphics than Skyrim. Halo 3 felt underpolished with character and weapon models. Visually, Reach was a large step over Halo 3. Trust me, if Halo 3 was remade with Reach’s graphical quality, but same art style, there would be a significant difference.

We aren’t talking about quality of the graphics, we’re talking about the way it is shown. Reach looks great as a gritty kind of game. I believe the statement he is trying to get across is he prefers the vibrant colors of previous Halo’s rather than the gritty atmosphere of Reach, as do I.

Just like Star wars :P:P:P:P:P:P:P

Agreed, I’m sick of brown/gray being the primary colors in every game for the past 3 years.

Broaden the pallet and actually give a budget to the aesthetics department rather than just making it all about “grafix!!11”

Isn’t Halo 4 going to be Darker?

Especially since MC is lost in an unknown world i presume and the storyline is after all of Death’s of Heroes.

Halo 3’s art + Halo: Reach’s tech.

BAM.

Agreed,

Reach > Halo 3

Halo 3 was so oversaturated with colors that my eyes bleed everytime I look at its lighting.

Actually, they are not entirely different.

So… Like Star Wars!

EDIT: Sorry, didn’t see the guy above me say this. I feel sad now.

For a second I thought you meant the wieght of the case :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, the thread title is a little miss leading to me…
If you mean lighter as in more lights, and less darkness, then it should be “Brighter”
If you mean Lighter as in Halo 4 should lose weight, I’ll have to ask you to drop and give me 20.

^^This is how I believed he implied the graphical power of 3 overlaps Reach. Though he may be referring to the color palette. If so…meh, I still prefer Reach’s realistic gritty feel. Though I do agree I want more variety. Halo Reach’s MM is dominated by Forge World maps which is just one palette. It does get dull after awhile.

I just hope they add a bit more diversity to Forerunner architecture, (since they seem to play a central role in the game) always seemed a bit dull for me

i think it should start colorful vivid and beautiful, but slowly become darker and darker to a point where it feels totally different.

I mean, there absolutely should be a sense of looming darkness in Halo. Though at the right time.
