In the middle of a matchmaking game last night, I was put into a black screen and came back with none of my loadouts available. I later went on to discover that my rank had be reset to SR1 and general matchmaking was unavailable. I received a message saying that the Halo 4 servers were down, but I was still able to play regular Slayer with other people; all of us SR1 in full Recruit Armor.
This is only affecting certain people. I have a friend whom I was playing with at the time who is still able to access the full matchmaking, and retained all of his achievements. XBOX customer service said I was the first person to call about it, and they have no idea what is going on.
It first happened on my main 360, but I have another one and tried there and it worked for a day and now its doesn’t work on that one either. I just want to complete this game and get 25 challenges

I repeat, the servers are back to normal.
Seemed to be on-and-off, hit-or-miss, really. Also kept having attempts to join a Big Team Slayer match cancelled due to the number of people being searched for suddenly disappearing.
