Is anyone else having Halo 4 server issues? I can’t connect to the main server to play spartan ops or matchmaking. I can only play on a back up hopper.

The servers went down, and they were prepared and are providing you an instant and simple solution to that in the form of back-up servers.
This is pretty much the best thing they could possibly do.
The other option would be to not have access to the game at all.

yeah this happened to me on monday, dont bother until tommorow, any games you get in will be unplayably laggy, just go through some campaign missions or play another game
I’m not complaining about back up servers.
I would just like more information, so I know when I would be able to play at full functionality or why i was chosen to be placed on a back up.
It is the lack of information I find frustrating. I want to play, I love the game.
Probably better off playing COD anyway, this game blows.

I had the issue all day last Sunday. I think it is ridiculous. I can understand having some difficulties with the initial release but come on. 343 should have been prepared. Maybe next time they’ll have a beta so they can be identify potential issues and remedy them.
Do the backup servers record your stats?
mine are doing it, but ive heard that they can sometimes lagg out and not record anything, though the few games i played in back up servers had little xp, i only got about 300 xp for a full victory on a slayer match
Is this a reason why I am not getting any exp during my games?
I’m only receiving around half of the XP as normal. The commendation stats are not tracking correctly either. The matchmaking process is taking a lot longer than usual and I’m getting put into games with very few players. One game was 3 against 1. Has 343 released any statements addressing the server issues? I have been experiencing these issues for more than 24 hours now.

I’m complaining about not being able to play with friends. A pretty gigantic problem in a multiplayer game.
Unable to access Spartan Ops as well.
I have a feeling that the unactive servers may have to do with Episode 3 of Spartan Ops. It’s coming out tomorrow, is it not? They’re probably fixing up a few things and prepping the new episode for launch. Just play campaign if you lag in the back-up servers. Work on Legendary and get the achievements that a vast majority of the Xbox community lust after. 
Yeah I couldn’t get on all day,but my son (on the same xbox could?) a little frustrating as I just forked out 2000 MS points for the War Games pass! Hopefully this will get sorted soon, at least I’m not the only one.
