Halo 4 scorpion tank

I have been thinking about the scorpion that will be in halo 4 and there is one thing that I think would work well for it. 343 should tak a cue from the world of tanks. The way the tanks work in WoT would be a welcome change. Even a zoom for the scorpion would be nice, especially for big maps. I dont know, what does the community think about this?

Hmmmm. I think I might enjoy a Scorpion with a scoped main gun.

EDIT: I should say it seems good from a campaign persepctive. Not sure it would work in MM.

The scorpion is powerful enough, especially at range. I don’t think it needs a zoom.

I wouldn’t like a zoom feature on the tank. It’s overpowered enough as it is.

I think it should be more similar to Halo Reach’s tank or Halo 3’s.

I really hope that they take influence from battlefield with the tank mechanics.

I had over 10,000 kills in bad company 2 with tanks, and I have over 8,000 in BF3.

They drove so well in BC2, Halo’s tanks are too simple, they need to adapt a bit because controlling the drive with the left stick and general physics of them feels pretty bad to me. I also think that they should slow down the fire rate and make the shells lob a little. They should have facing armour too, Front being the heaviest, side lighter, and rear lightest. I also hate the way the shells look like a white line when they are fired they should look like an actual 30lb shell flying through the air at supersonic speed, they need to use less auto aim too.

a scope function for the scorpion tank would not be over powering people its not adding anyhting but a feature that allows u to take a little better shot also it would limit there field of vision and will make the more vulnerable to a side or back attack so it will be balanced out

I extremely hated how the scorpion tank turned out in reach. They should make it drive like Halo 3, and have teammates sit on top of the treads like in halo ce campaign.

Yeah the scorpion does seem a bit overdue for a serious overhaul with its game mechanics. The directional armor would be a good idea, even wot(best mmo game right now in my opinion) does that.

Ever since CE, I’ve used the Scorpion as a sniping tool. It would be over powered if you could zoom with it too.

If any changes were to come to the Scorpion, I would like it to be that players could ride on the treads again, passenger and vehicle health shows for driver (of course have that for other vehicles too), and to have the machine gun added back to the drivers control. That meaning that the driver can control the machine gun turret as well until another player gets in, or add the weaker CE-styled machine gun in addition to the passenger controlled turret.

It’d be to Over powered with a Zoom. Just keep them like they were in Halo 3.

Tanks should have weight, they should not use the stick for driving, they should not have auto aim, they should have lobbing shells, armour facing, not get stuck on smaller vehicles, a slower firing rate, and I hate that they can be boarded.

tanks in BF take skill, a good tanker is a hard thing to find in that game, the issue in Halo is that the Scorpion should require a learning curve to get good in it, just like every other weapon, not just hide in a corner of the map then point then shoot. The skill should from good awareness, positioning, leading your shots, a generally being a good aim, and knowing how to fight one on one with another tank.

A zoom feature for the Tank!? That takes all of the fun out of Sniping with the tank in a Forge World sized map.

Tanks today have scopes, why can’t a tank 500+ years in the future have one?

It’s called gameplay balance. The Scorpion is powerful enough as it is.

I don’t think it needs a scope to be honest. You can see well into the distance to see if anything moved. And if you think something is there, you’ll just need to pull the trigger to find out.

Halo’s maps are fairly small for that kind of tank warfare. We’re not fighting on maps that are Forge World-sized. I just don’t think it is even needed.

It would be for vehicle battles only(the wraith could have it too), not infantry battles. It would be over powered there.

And you honestly think it wouldn’t be used on infantry?

Any ways, here’s the main thing that destroys the idea of having a zoom option for tanks in Halo. MAP SIZE! You don’t need to scope in on your target on a map the size of sand trap, or sandbox, all vehicles that you’d shoot at can be seen from the other side of the map.

Yes Tanks today have scopes on them, because instead of having a camera floating around out side of the tank with a magical HUD showing where your turret is pointed, and where your round should hit, you’re on the inside of the effin thing. Halo’s vehicle combat is all done in 3rd person, so a scope feature wouldn’t be that useful, plus so far, the biggest official Halo map is Forge World from Reach, a map that you’d need a scope zoom feature on a tank for, but can you honestly tell me that there has been forge world maps that used the whole forge world? Maybe in custom games, but not in MM.

The Scorpion doesn’t need a scope or anything drastic done to it. For me, I would just want to see it go back to more like the Scorpion in previous Halo games. For one, make the rate of fire slower, but still keep it at the same power, buff the damage resistance immensely, and bring back the classic chaingun where the driver controls it- no passengers.

Considering how fast the thing fires, adding a scope would basically make it a well-defended sniper who shoots explosive rounds with unlimited ammo. Go figure.

How about the Rhino?
