Played a game of Rocket Hog Race tonight in Multi-team tonight in Reach. Spent most of the game just shaking my head at how Rocket Race went from something really good in Halo 3 to something absolutely horrific in Reach.
The thing I’m most anticipating in Halo 4 is how the vehicle physics will work and how the maps are designed around vehicle gamepley. Reach shipped with one map that I could play Rocket Race on, and that was Hemorrhage. The rest were terrible. Add that to the fact that the vehicle physics are so weird and the Rocket Launcher couldn’t boost a Mongoose more than 10 feet we ended up with Rocket Hog Race. Thanks Jeremiah. I hope Larz Bakken laughs at you everyday for what you did to his creation. It’s sad.
Thank God I’ll still be able to play Halo 3 Rocket Race every week until Halo 5.
I think that gametype was the main reason I still love sandtrap, that and infection. It would be rather nice to see rocket race return to it’s original glory in Halo 4, so here’s hoping.
Whenever it was a Double EXP Weekend me and a friend played it when we had the chance.
I hope it returns. Only as a weekend playlist though or it will get old fast.
Rocket race was some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing Halo. It’s a shame it was no good in Reach. The OP is absolutely correct though, no appropriate maps and terrible vehicle physics killed it. Hopefully 343 was just as outraged by this as we were and have taken steps to correct it.
Rocket Race was one of my favorite things about Halo 3.
I actually got to play last night in multi-team on H3 for the 1st time in like a year and it was awesome as it ever was.
Except the second game my driver left me and didn’t know what to do so I just ‘annoyed’ the other kids and assassinated them…(I hate people that do that, LOL)

Because the changing of Multi-Team from 6 teams of 2 to 4 teams of 3 had nothing to do to changing in how Rocket Race would have handled at all.
