I can’t help but feel that 9.8 is too generous for the game, but the metascore for 91 is not doing the game justice.
Still, it didn’t flop, which is good enough for me 
It definitely didn’t flop, its a very good score. I must admit I am ever so slightly disappointed that its averaging at 91, as opposed to something like 95, but its early days yet and its still a really great score.
Cynically I was expecting an average score in the 80s, so I’m happy to be wrong here.

Same here, I was honestly expecting IGN to give this game 8.7 or something like that.
Still, I think the incredible amount of 90s have locked this game to at most, 92/100.
Have reviewers never heard of 9.5? LOL
The IGN score is really suprising.
What suprised me most in a pleasant way is how they said it was probably the biggest step forward for shooters since Half Life 2.
Now, THAT is a way to have heard turned into Halo’s direction!
And 9.8…that means it’s just as good as Halo 2 in their eyes? Could it be my personal highlight of the series will FINALLY be dethroned?
Oh, by the way OP, I’m pretty sure IGN gave Reach a 10/10. Mostly as a nod to what Bungie had accomplished…
Dutch reviews over here are scoring about 8.5…then again, Dutch reviewers have their heads so deep up Activision’s/CoD’s “you-know-whats” it’s not even remotely funny of objective anymore. Its been like that ever since H3. Biggest CoD fanboys in the world here.

IGN US gave Reach 9.5 if I remember correctly, but the overall score was reduced to 9 when UK and AU scores were added in.

An expansion pack running off the same engine as Halo 3 when compared to the other AAA titles at the time is not going to get higher than a full blown Halo game.

It was IGN UK that gave it a 10/10.
We Dutch were being redirected to the UK version around that time, so that’s how I know.
The same score as Reach so far. Something is definitely wrong with that.
Great scores across the board. I wonder if Halo 4 will top Reach’s sales.
Metacritic is -Yoink-. Don’t use it.
Someone average all of that out.
