I would like to start off that I am new to the Halo Waypoint forums. This is going to be long rant about my opinions on released Halo 4 information and how I would like nothing more but to see the competitive and casual community bridge together. I think we can all agree Halo has been spiraling downhill with each consecutive title and separating even further between the casual and competitive communities.

Gaming interest: I play competitively but by no means am a Pro. I like to play with a clan and enjoy those settings, but I hate a divide in the community and enjoy playing casual game types as well. I just love Halo and want to see it grow again back to the glory days.
The following is my opinion, I don’t want to be flamed. I just want to introduce my ideas, wants, hopes, and desires for this upcoming release of Halo 4. I am not trying to persuade casuals to become MLG, but am showing how we can co-exsist while hopefully expressing my ideas to 343i as well.
1.) Sprint- what I would like to say about sprint is I completely understand why 343i brought sprint back. It was the most widely used Armor ability and has been more popular in FPS’ around. Sprint gives the player something to do while not engaged in gun battles.
CONS- I truly believe sprint was not implemented correctly in Reach. It allowed players to coward and run away while being shot in 1 v 1 battles. It was supposed to speed up gameplay but caused cowards, and stalemates increasing kill times. Also, the motion itself was a little clunky with slow reset to being able to use a gun etc.
PROS- 343i has said that now, you have “stopping power” which essentially slows you down when you are being shot running away or running up to double melee someone.
OVERALL- I just want this to be able to be turned off in custom games IF it does not work properly. I would like the maps to play well without sprint since 343i really focused on base movement and speed and non-campaign maps from scratch. While I am not a fan of sprint and think it does not feel like Halo, I am not bashing it, just asking that it is an option to turn off for those that like the classic feel. Is that so bad?
2.) DMR Bloom/ BR Recoil/Spread- From a competitive (and even lots of casual) perspective, bloom was the worst idea Halo has implemented yet.BR spread/recoil was introduced in Halo 3 and Bloom in Reach.
CONS- Bloom in reach made luck come into play and lowered the skill gap. Pacing your shots correctly could sometimes beat a spammer up close and other times lose to a spammer based on a random placement of the bullet. BR spread made it so shots across the map sometimes only connected with a couple bullets out of the burst. This happened even when your reticule was directly on the head. It was not always predictable and caused a decrease in skill gap.
PROS- 343i has stated that the bloom is better from reach and even “MLG” players will not be mad about it. Also, BR spread and recoil make the gun less effective at range so it becomes a mid-close range weapon and gives a purpose for both the DMR and BR.
Overall- I would again like at least bloom to be a setting we could turn off in custom games. Spread and recoil would be nice to turn off as well. This is again for classic feeling and to increase the skill gap for people who love MLG or competitive. Again, this would only be for those who want this. If bloom is done properly, my hopes are that it is not random. A.) that since the DMR kills in 5 shots, the spam would not be affected in the first 5 shots and accuracy would decrease only if you missed a shot or B.) that the bloom is just there for ascetics and doesn’t hurt the actual mechanics of the DMR.
3.) BR/DMR 5 shot kill- All I have to say about this is according to KIlla KC (professional gamester) the DMR shot faster and was better overall then the BR essentially creating it useless as a utility weapon. My thoughts on this are personally I believe the BR should go back to a 4 shot kill. Why? A.) it holds 36 bullets in the clip and if it is a 5 shot kill that will not work properly. B.) Nostalgia C.) because it would allow it to have an up close advantage over the DMR because since the DMR shoots faster, the BR could make up for that with a faster kill time. Also, mid range would be nearly equal (DMR faster slightly more accurate, BR kills faster slightly less accurate due to spread recoil) and finally the DMR would dominate at long range just like its intended purpose. This would create competitive and causal balance. Think… one person on your time could be the infiltrator with the BR and another the marksman with the DMR supplying cover fire. My final thoughts on this are that for custom games, we give ourself individual weapon damage modifiers so we can tweak and change each weapon to create competitive or balanced gameplay. Again this will not effect anyone who loves how the game is played out of the box. Keep in mind, all these rants are with in mind that a playlist is given with these settings so we at least have something to play in matchmaking. I believe Casuals would enjoy this just as much because It will feel classic and just like a call of duty barebones playlist. Casuals that want to get better can watch and learn from pros, then apply it to the playlist and gain skill.
My goal is not to change halo, my goal is that all of these are implemented properly. Im simply saying if they are not, THEN give us customization to tweak them to our liking
Random weapon drops- please don’t make like kill streaks, please let us customize this (IF IT DOES NOT WORK WELL)
Armor Abilities- I like armor abilities. Personally, I like them as pick ups on map so you have to fight for them, but to each his own. I know we can customize this.
Perks- dont make too over powered. Custom turn this off again IF IT DOES NOT WORK
Instant re spawn- like the idea of getting back into the action, I just hope that it doesn’t mess up spawn systems and allow you to spawn and kill the person that is still low on shields from when they just took you down.
MAPS- I HAVE FAITH IN 343 they will be good
MOVEMENT JUMP STRAFE AIM ACCELERATION- all increase skill gap, hope these are all custom. Aim acceleration just helps the bad player too much by allowing his gun to b a magnet on to the opponents head. I personally am not declaring myself the best player, but I like to work at my shot and not be rewarded by the game but by practice or skill.
Join in progress- too cod-like for me. I like traditional but it will reward the people whose teammates quit out.
Forge- Please give us pretty colors, environments, tools, and structures to create maps that are not dull and boring. Everyone should agree on this one.
FINALLY 2 of the most important things I hope to seeing HALO 4
RANKING SYSTEM- 1-50 is ideal, I still like credits to unlock and buy things and level up in that sense, but ranking systems match players with equal skill, allow you to work for something and increase longevity to the game. What is not to like about it? It keeps Halo active and alive.
SPECTATOR MODE- this is essential for me and completive people. It lets causals or anyone interested in tournament play view the matches. it lets pros or competitive stream the matches. COD HAS it GEARS has it. HALO NEEDS it. Without it, Halo will have a tougher time.
