343, please bring back Respawn Times as they are a crucial part of the gameplay. If no Respawn Times were to be in place, then the game will become too fast and lose touch of Halo’s core roots. It will start become Call of Duty type gameplay, and that’s what your hardcore community don’t want. How is it fair if I am to kill somebody and they just Respawn with a different loadout that has a long range weapon and kills me whilst my shields are still down. I’m glad that halo is changing path and becoming fresh, but don’t take out key components like Respawn Times. Don’t make the pace of the Halo 4 too fast.
How will we get Exterminations!!?? We need respawn time
Play objective games if you want respawn times and if your worried about your shield regen then just equip the faster shield regen modification.
Thank You. If anyone else agrees with me, comment and say NO to no Respawn Times!
> How will we get Exterminations!!?? We need respawn time
In objective I think.
In FFA respawn times are not important as the whole game type is random enough but in team slayer you should wait couple of secs before you can get back to action IMO.
But others won’t do this as they may be new or just don’t care.
Instant respawns mean little penalty for dying.
Just to use FFA Slayer as an example, I have lost too many games all ready to someone who has scored a significantly lower k/d ratio in the game to me. Which bugged me a little. But I can easily be consoled by the knowledge that staying alive for longer meant that I had an advantage in being able to find people because I had more time to do so. I can put it down to being unlucky and not being in the action as much as the other guy. Adversely I have won games by specifically targeting my closest rival in an attempt to keep them in the loading screen as much as I possibly can.
In a competitive halo game the player that preformed the best should win but if staying alive is not rewarded I fear that may be less often the case.
No respawn timer is FINE in / FFA games
Any Team games need a fixed spawn timer
We need respawn time. You guys should all know that Tea-bagging in Halo is a tradition that should never go away no matter what its important to the franchise!!
I don’t mind insta-spawn in slayer but it needs to stay out of objective and that’s how it is, or at least that’s what 343i is telling us. The reactions I’ve seen so far to Halo 4’s spawning system has been mostly positive so I don’t think it’ll be a big deal.
As I see it, here are the pros and cons of a “press X to respawn” system.
Pros:
- Faster paced games: Some people want to get back into the action quicker when they die. This will enable them to do that.
- Avoiding teabagging: Some people have a problem with teabagging. This way they won’t see it, and others may be inclined to -Yoink!- less if they think they don’t have an audience.
Cons:
- No penalty for sloppy play: People will do less to preserve their life if they don’t feel the bite of a death, especially as new loadouts ensure that people can respawn with a weapon of their choice.
- Kill feeders: Frustrated gamers might keep respawning as fast as they can and charging straight to the same place they last got sniped, hell bent on revenge. With no respawn time to offer them time to cool down and reflect or time for the opponant to switch locations, this will mean the less tactical members of a team will award a well placed enemy many kills, dragging his more patient teammates down.
- Missing cool things: Many of us like to make and watch montage videos or share clips, and sometimes we see stuff after death that makes us want to go to the theater and check it out. With more people respawning fast, we’ll catch less clips.
- Teabagging is a weapon: Teabagging is a valuable asset at times, and can make an opponant lose their composure and get reckless. I’ll be sad to see this mindgame nerfed, as I’ve used it to my advantage in the past with more competitive members of the community.
Those were just off the top of my head, though I’m sure there’s more factors to consider. Still, in my estimation I see more negative things about it than positive, as the positive stuff merely allows a mild sense of comfort, wheras the negative impacts gameplay and the community.
spawn time of 3 seconds should be enough to think about what you’re going to do when you re-spawn.
> Play objective games if you want respawn times and if your worried about your shield regen then just equip the faster shield regen modification.
There is a modification for faster shield regen? Oh God… I don’t know how I feel about that.
As for insta spawn, I guess that’s the end of exterminations? Well, unless you get them in objective gametypes of course.
for god sake learn to read.
Instant spawns are only in “infinite slayer” there will also be a “team slayer”
with respawn times. Stop jumping the gun, you’ll get shot by it one day.
At least it doesn’t force you to instantly respawn. You have time to change your loudmouth. You also spawn near your teammate. Many have said that they have yet to have one bad spawn. I won’t totally disapprove of insta spawns. It’s playlist specific too.
You do realise instant respawns have only been introduced to regicide and infinity slayer right? Both playlists of which I will be avoiding…
There will be classic playlists implemented into Halo 4’s multiplayer which will play more like Halo 3. I assume that they’ll have the usual respawn times as previous Halo games.
The respawn time will very in different playlists. I don’t believe we have anything to worry about.
Instant respawn will not be in all playlists. People just need to chill.
Why is it that everytime they introduce a feature, everyone assumes it’s game wide? It’s not. We know there are classic variants for all gametypes, and we also know that instant respawn wont be in any objective games.
Although to answer your question: assuming the spawn placement is adequate I absolutely love the idea of instant respawn. This coupled with faster shield recharge time, increased movement, and more and more powerful weapon all promotes a much faster game. That was one of Halo 3/Reach’s major problems: cripplingly slow gameplay.
