Halo 4, Requiem Question?

If Halo: Reach was Bungies last game. And Halo 3 was the last in the Trilogy. Why did Bungie include the cliffhanger scene in the Legendary ending? Was Bungie always planning to sell the Halo Universe? I’m confused …

I believe Bungie were planning on making Halo 4. Although I could be wrong.

Bungie left in the Legendary Ending to hint at Halo 4. It was to help set up the first part of a much larger game (for 343(, even if it was a just a short cutscene and a glimpse of what is to come.

Bungie meant to create ODST and Reach but left Halo 4 up to 343. I don’t believe Bungie ever wanted to create Halo 4 and went in with Reach as their last Halo game.

It wasn’t really a cliffhanger, but it left the universe open-ended for whatever could possibly happen next.

Bungie originally intended to make Halo 4. They dropped the project in favor of Reach because it came with ‘too much baggage’ for being their last game.

I see, it makes sense. If a Halo 4 wasn’t going to happen, players would have the oppitunity to make up the story afterwards. However since 343i are now in charge they can continue the story…

I thought they signed a contract with Microsoft for 5 games…

> I thought they signed a contract with Microsoft for 5 games…

If your talking about

  1. Halo CE
  2. Halo 2
  3. Halo 3
  4. Halo 3: ODST
  5. Halo: Reach

Then they fulfilled that… but I might be wrong at what your trying to point out

They did:

  1. Halo: Combat Evolved
  2. Halo 2
  3. Halo 3
  4. Halo 3: ODST
  5. Halo: Reach

Halo Wars wasn’t in the list because it was created by Ensemble Studios, not Bungie. I guess Bungie allowed Ensemble to use Halo to make another game.
