Halo 4 Release date problems

Ok so we know that Halo 4 is coming out on November 6 2012. We also know Cod is coming out sometime the week after. This seems like a bad strategy to me because while I could care less about Cod it has a massive following and is the most popular game right now. It seems like a week after Halo 4 is out the population will drop massively due to Cod. Also i know many of my friends who are Cod fans would pick up Halo 4 if it was released in October to tide them over to Cod but with Cod coming out a week after Halo 4 they say its not worth it to pay 60 dollars to play a game for a week. Although I will get Halo 4 on release date and play it for years until the next Halo (like I am doing with Reach now) and never get Cod this seems like a problem to me. Thoughts?

If Halo 4 is truly a great game, people will naturally flow towards it.

The next cod game to my knowledge doesn’t have a release date, it could be november 6th as well.

That’s why there supposed to be a very ambitious marketing campaign to show everyone how amazing Halo 4 will be. Plus, being so close to a COD release will bring the inevitable COD vs. Halo thing similar to last year’s Battlefield vs. COD. Both of those games got great publicity, too. I’ve also heard many people saying they’re getting sick of COD and its’ repetitiveness, so there’s that.

> The next cod game to my knowledge doesn’t have a release date, it could be november 6th as well.

and when that happens the world will end due to the massive crowds of gamers fighting over the better game

> If Halo 4 is truly a great game, people will naturally flow towards it.

Not if they aren’t going to try and play it first.

> The next cod game to my knowledge doesn’t have a release date, it could be november 6th as well.

my local game store said cod would also be released Nov 6th, but it could be just thr same situation with the halo 4 released before 343i announced it, probably just gave a random or unnoficial date.

Actually, there is no problem. Except if you count the Election Day (USA) release. This is precisely why it is getting released on November 6th. They wanted their own day, which is typical for Halo.

Also, the next Call Of Duty title still doesn’t have a release date, nor any rumored ones. In fact, there is very little info on it as is, excluding the 5/2/12 “Debrief” date.

If you look at it this way, all gaming companies rely on each other. Halo came first, Battlefield second, and Call Of Duty third. They run off of each other, and depend on each other to make their games better. This also applies to their releases; no gaming company would dare try to share, or even be close to sharing a release date with a game of the same genre as theirs. It’s a bad marketing move, and considering these games learn off of each others’ perfections and imperfections, it would be just downright rude.

You see, mainstream gaming companies rival each other, but if you notice how they share their gaming ideas, it makes you wonder how they all haven’t sued each other for copyright infringement. Attempting to even almost share a release date would set the other gaming company off, basically asking for a lawsuit.

Think about it carefully; excluding remakes, when was the last time you saw Battlefield, Call Of Duty, and Halo (any combination) share a release time-range (within the same 3 week period)?

Black ops two comes out November 13 2012

Possible validation. However, if you read the “Update” paragraph, it is said that it is unconfirmed, and could very well be fake. Whereas the info on the “Eclipse” is very straightforward, I stand firm in believing that gaming companies would not open themselves up to an easy lawsuit.

And honestly, either way, CoD may have 40 million monthly players across all of their many titles, but those same 40 million players are losing interest in a game that is overly repetitive, and runs on an engine so close to its original that the game has felt the same way forever.

I personally don’t see it as a problem. Call of Duty has been copied and pasted too many times. I heard a lot of people say MW3 was mediocre because of this which means people are finally getting board with it. Unless Black Ops II completely revolutionizes the gameplay and takes Call of Duty in a completely new direction, I highly doubt it will do as good as Halo.

It’s also still early yet. Halo hasn’t kicked off with its marketing campaign. Once we start seeing epic movie quality campaign trailers it’ll finally sink in how awesome Halo will be. Call of Duty will just have more Classic Rock and “America F Yeah” commercials. Sure it’s cool once in a while but Call of Duty does it so often it does get stale.

A halo and cod showdown.

If it does come out a week after Halo 4 I do not think it will hurt population much .I have a feeling That Halo 4 will be truly epic and the Fans will love it .Then BO2 comes out they buy it and it is the same crap as the others . They play it a few days then come back to halo 4 and never return to COD.

well since I only okay for the SP…I’m good

They have already been auditioning for people to be in the commercials, I think its gonna be EPIC!

  1. CoD has lost popularity, the last CoD was the first not to break records, on the contrary it sold 4,2% less, which to a CoD is a nightmare. Activision killed Guitar Hero, CoD sure seems like the next victim.
  2. MS paid Acitivision good money to get exclusive DLC, they felt they needed it to sell 360’s, especially after Reach. This time around, MS is kicking Activision straight in the blam! by releasing their best selling exclusive at the same time as the next CoD (or close to), and hence removing a large part of CoDs main platform (360).
MS is showing their strength and they need to be confident in Halo since Halo, not CoD, will sell the 720 at release and forward. MS can afford lover sales from Halo 4 since they will get it back over time and got other projects, but if CoD fails (again) to sell, and that by a lot, the series might very well die and Halo will once again be the biggest FPS series on consoles. Casuals buy what ever is popular, WoW or CoD, and once population starts to decline, they jump the next big thing, even it it’s just the good old Halo, and even if it takes skill.

If they’ve developed a great marketing campaign, like i suspect they have, the CoD vs. Halo popularity thing will balance itself out.

Halo is classic where CoD fails to be a classic title… Fall of CoD!

NOT TRUE.

Sgt Major Johnson knows what the ladies like.

Master Chief just thought he would try shooting his way out, you know, mix it up a little

I am happy to say:

343 you’ve got balls.
