Halo 4’s ranking system should be something like Reach’s because honestly I did not like Halo 3’s system that much because you could only play certain playlist’s that would give you lots of Exp but then there were other playlist that you would have to play a lot just to get some Exp. You would have separate ranks for each playlist that i did not like cause you’d be a high rank on this playlist and a low rank on that one. Now for armor i like Halo reach’s armor system but i also liked Halo 3’s at the same time because you would have to work for the armor by unlocking achievements and doing special things like that but i don’t want all the armor unlocks to be that way only some most would be unlocked by earning cR or the new thing they call it and then buying it in the armory, And when you want armor through an achievement maybe 343 should make it so the achievement says (Unlocks Armor If Done) or (Unlocks Helmet If Done) and so one with shoulders wrists weapon attachments and vehicle attachments. 343 did talk about this. Please tell me what you think!

Sorry I really don’t now how to do it here I’m new to the Forums.
I wounder how ranking system will be i can only dream…
> Halo 4’s ranking system should be something like Reach’s.
So you want another dumbed down piss poor excuse for a system that rewards you for losing? There is no incetinve at all to win with that system. If you win a match you get rearward lets say 5,000 cR. If you lose a match you also get rewarded it’s almost the same amount to. So there’s no incentive at all to win becasue you get rewarded either way.
No we need something like the Halo 2, or Halo 3 system. That gives players the incentive to win. I haven’t played Halo 2 online, but I played Halo 3 online. Your incentive to win is that you don’t get EXP for losing which you need to rank up. You get EXP by winning a match. IF you’re playing a ranked play-list is you win some matches you get a skill point which you also need to rank up with. If you lose some matches you will lose that skill point. That is the incentive to win.
Also with Halo 2, and Halo 3s system you can tell who’s good, and bad. Reach’s system the only thing it proves is that you play a lot.

Enter key.
OK now that’s just wrong if i were to play Halo reach and i lost would i be fair that i get say 2,000 cR while the other team get 7,000 cR i thing bungie made a game to play and have fun not to play and win and have the losers get crap for it.
And also if you did not know you do get more cR for winning you get extra cR on Kills, Medals, And wins and if i were a Nova and someone els was a recruit and i got 8,000 on one game would the recruit get the same thing is he won? You get more cR the higher the rank you are.
> OK now that’s just wrong if i were to play Halo reach and i lost would i be fair that i get say 2,000 cR while the other team get 7,000 cR.
No. It’s wrong that Bungie is rewarding the people that lost the match. You should not get anything for losing. That’s what gives players the incentive to win.
> i thing bungie made a game to play and have fun not to play and win and have the losers get crap for it.
No. Bungie made a game for the casual community, and gamers. If you want to have fun go play custom games, or the Socil Play-list. The ranked play-list is for people who want to play competitively. But both play-list should not reward you for losing. Rewarding the losers takes the whole combative nature out of it. Why try when you get rewarded for losing?
> And also if you did not know you do get more cR for winning you get extra cR on Kills, Medals, And wins and if i were a Nova and someone else was a recruit and i got 8,000 on one game would the recruit get the same thing is he won? You get more cR the higher the rank you are.
Yes I know you get extra credits for medals, and kills. Yes highers ranks do get more credits for the game completed then lower ranks. What I’m saying is that I get almost the same amount of credits for winning a match. As I do for losing a match. So why bother to win. When I get the same amount for losing?

That is the problem with Reach. It doesn’t give you any incentive to win because you will eventually get that shiny new helmet if you play enough.
We definitely need to have the 1-50 ranking system back. However, I think that this skill rank should not disclude you from getting armour. You should be able to buy armour with cR. The cR doesn’t do anything except get you new armour, just like in Reach, but there would also be a skill rank in the form of a number (1-50) on only the ranked playlists. If you want to play for fun, go play social matchmaking. The ranked playlists are for the people who want to win and show that they are the best.
That is how it should be. If you want to play for fun, fin, just play social matchmaking and you can still be rewarded for playing poorly and losing. You will still get your cR to keep you happy. Just let everyone who wants to actually play the game play ranked.

I like this.

NO!!!
For the love of god open your eyes the 1-50 system is a terrible system that lead to a ridiculous black market that had a -Yoink- load of success.
The arena system worked in some way better, as second accounts didn’t matter at all, same goes for boosting. IT TOOK AWAY THE DUMB PARTS OF THE H3 MM.
It was way more punishing and rewarding then the H3 system and being onyx isn’t like being a H3 General as everyone can buy an account but not everyone can manage to keep on trying to get to onyx top 10%.
The problem with the Reach Ranking system was not the cR ranks but the fact there was no attention giving to the actual system that is way more hardcore then H3s or H2s.
Even 343i is not giving it the attention it needs so it can live up to it’s full potential.
Also the only reason “Generals” hate this system is because there bought account is useless and if they want to prove they are good, they have to show it every season.
No. Halo 2/3 ranking system should be brought back. Credits should only be used for purchasing armor and NEVER for rank. Even then, ~20% of the armor should require a rank to get it. About 10% should be from achievements.

You are blinded by nostalgia and unable to see the truth.
The H2/H3 ranking system sucked.
I’m no huge fan of the Reach system but if they just gave a whole bunch of support to Arena the competitive group should come back as Arena is more Hardcore then H3s.
If you go up someone else must go down. Players are actually punished for quieting (as it’s now W/L based) and deranking doesn’t do anything but piss of players.
Boosted accounts no longer exists neither does the black market that the 1-50 system created.

That is exactly how it should be. A move like that would bring back the original hardcore community of Halo. Reach has become one of the least active online halo games to date. Without an incentive to win, to show off something that demonstrates your actual skill, the community will continue to drop due to a lack of accomplishment. Keep the CR but bring back a ranking system much like h2 or h3. Personally loved the h2 system due to the sheer fact that if you were just in the mid thirties, you were considered an amazing player.
This needs to be spread more. 343 NEEDS TO KNOW THAT A PROPER RANKING SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE IMPLEMENTED IF THEY WISH TO COMPETE WITH BUNGIE’S LEGACY. If 343 really consider themselves qualified to take on the job because they are made of old halo fans, then they should understand this
> The arena system worked in some way better, as second accounts didn’t matter at all, same goes for boosting. IT TOOK AWAY THE DUMB PARTS OF THE H3 MM.

Point invalid.
^ lol holy necro bump
bring a HARD CORE game, and the hard core players will come, regardless of rank.
Halo CE had NO RANK. Yet it was the hardest of the hard core.
I heard that Halo 4 will have two ranking systems. Hopefully, they have one for people who want to play to win and the other for people who don’t care about the outcome of the game.
I think one is the XP system where players get rewarded for performance and participation, including a bonus for winning. Maybe the other will be a skill system like Halo 2 or Halo 3 where winning is a major factor, if not the only factor.

Agreed you couldn’t have said it any better. The Reach system was terrible and it showed by how many players populated that play-list…
Halo 4 needs to implement some type of revamped system like halo’2 or halo’3 cause it kept players playing the game and it gave causal and competitive players an incentive to play the game more and care about there rank in different playlist’s.
343 needs to have a great ranking system for halo 4 to keep the game fresh to play for months to come after the game is released and so that people don’t get bored of the game like halo reach
I’ve been hearing that whenever 343 decides to release the new ranking system (whenever that may be, April i think)that you wont be able to see your actual individual rank for each playlist and then your highest rank next to your name.
I have been playing Halo Competitively since halo 2 first came out on xbox live…so it’s safe to say that i (among other players like me) feel a sense of attachment and love for the game and the way it gets managed. I can see why you would want to hide the rank on the console game and only make it visible for the waypoint system…nooby kids with low ranks will be looked down on, but this isn’t kindergarten…this is halo, trash talk at its finest. Being taunted and dogged on for your rank is what made kids like me the MLG players they are today, you want people to be able to see your high level because of the skill and time it took to get it…it gives you a sense of pride in your gaming.
At the very least, if the ranks still only go to waypoint, don’t make them just numbers…it’s very bleak and boring, add the colors and styles around the number like in halo 2 and reach and maybe once they hit 45 you can add in the symbol ranking (nova, comet, halo ring ect) because that’s what everyone really wants in the end…not just some tasteless number.
thank you, 343.

Sorry for asking what’s probably going to seem like a stupid question, but I don’t understand some things and I have searched everywhere for answers. I just played a guy who’s record was 700 kills and 100 deaths but his rank was a 98… how is that possible? my k/d is somewhere around 9300/6800 and I’m only a 78… campaign and missions? Anyone who knows… thanks.
