You get your credits based on accomidations, game complete and slot machine and rank based on how well you did in the match (K/D).

Should have been done this way in Reach.
Personally I feel the Halo 3, post TU 2,system worked the best.
It gave enough incentive to stay in the games, gave the player something to strive for, and required you to be good to rank up. Ranking, in my opinion, should be about how good you are, hence the title ‘Rank’, which should not be based off playtime like Reach.

Well trueskill needs to be based on something right? I myself don’t care much about k/d to be honest…
the credit system in halo reach sucked…make it more like halo 3

Well if you think about Halo 3 and any Ranking system in every game is Time Wise even if there is Trueskill like 1-50. For Ex. my Halo 3 rank is lv. 42 and i don’t think i deserve it [because i’m better than average but i can be beat by someone of the same rank] but i spent alot of time, with XP and luck with noob lobbies i finally got there. But what is skill really?
I Agree, it should have been like that in Reach, Your Rank and cR should be 2 Seperate things.
cR should also be helped by player… um damn it whats that word? Well the more the player plays the game and does not camp in a corner the more cR they get.

I’m just going to say what I did in this thread.
This is a touchy point for many. Many people want the ranking systems from Halo 2 or 3 to return. That’s fine, for a Matchmaking ranking system. How this relates to unlocking things like armor needs to be one that wont restrict other players. By ranking up in Matchmaking you should earn credits or achievements to go towards buying armor. Achievements should earn a sum of credits that varies depending on the level of difficulty. Instead of simply having Achievements to unlock armor like in Halo 3, Achievements should unlock an amount of credits equal to a certain piece of armor. This way you still get a certain armor reward for the Achievement but not one that makes it impossible to get that armor for players who may not have access to online play or may not enjoy campaign. The credits system should not have traditional ranks but rather something we will refer to as “Credit Milestones”. All credits will go towards moving through these milestones. If you rank up in Matchmaking, you should reach the next Credit Milestone. All game modes, whether it’s Campaign, Firefight, Forge or anything else, should contribute to your credits. Any restrictions to how many credits can be earned per game or day must be the same whether you are playing online or offline. This way we can have a system that is fair to everyone and will allow all players to unlock all armor permutations.

I thought of a ranking system similar to this except the amount of credits you recieve is based on how well you do in the game. Ex. you finish the game with 10 kills and 5 deaths (2.00) you get 2000 credits. I think it would give gamers an incentive to do better in games and (hopefully) encourage teamwork. About the K/D: I think it is a very accurate representation of how well you play. I think matchmaking should automatically pair you with players closest to your K/D.
Split the Ranked playlists from the Social playlists.
Give the Ranked ones a 1-50 system and the Social ones a cR system.

It’s not all about your K/D…there are players out there who may not have the best K/D but they help their team do what needs to be done to get the win, a support player. Everyone will base someone based by their K/D which yes i can understand that, but its not most important, and some people just go in and will stat and all so, i just don’t think it should be based off K/D at all.

the use of this system would eliminate boosters as far as rank goes, for the most part that is. Also Cr should be deducted if your AFK’ing.

They should really flesh it out a lot.
I don’t want to be in an objective game that has turned slayer. Or a Multi Team where they go for kills in KotH. Slayer Specific Playlists wouldn’t solve it.
A system that ensures that Objective players play against each other, and Objective Slayers play against each other.
