Most of us are hoping that 343 bring a proper ranking system out soon, and also make two different types of playlists.
Social playlists where guests are allowed to play, ones that don’t count to your rank, and are just for fun. And Ranked playlists where guests cannot play, which count towards your rank.
Do you think it should go back to Halo 2/3 where you got a separate number rank for each playlist?
Also, what playlists should be in Ranked and Social lists?
IMO -
Ranked -
Team Slayer
Big Team Battle
Team Objective - Oddball, CTF, Dominion.
Team Snipers
An FFA playlist - (Regicide or Lone Wolves)
Team Doubles (2v2)
Swat
Social -
Flood
Social Slayer
Social BTB
Social Objective
Griftball
Rocket Race
Some sort of different weekly gametype or weekend gametype like Shotty Snipes or something. Like Bungie did with Halo 3.
Anyone else agree?
Providing that random weapons and Ordnance are not in Ranked, then yes I would love to see this.
Why not Ordinances?
I think they need to be tweaked a little bit, but I think Ordinances are a good idea.
I think people should be willing to see some change.
I loved Halo 2, but it’s like some people just want to see the same game but with better graphics.
This is not COD, we need innovation!

Why no Ordnance? Well here’s one reason why.
We compare this game with Call of Duty for various reasons, one being Ordnance.
Ordnance is much like care packages, they share the same effects on the game. For example you could get 2 equally skilled teams fighting one another for victory, both being in line with one another, then suddenly one of the teams gets a better ordnance drop then the other team, which can then suddenly change who the Victor is. This is a huge problem because the dice throwing essentially throws aside the opposing teams skill. The same can be said when one team is more skilled than the other, the weaker team could get lucky on the weapons and thus brush aside the better teams effort and skill.
It happens in Call of Duty a lot, if I’m on the losing team and I suddenly get a Swarm from a care package, I essentially have won the game for us without any effort, whether it be when the teams are equal or when the teams are different in skill. The dice throwing just isn’t Halo at all.
Ranked matches should be down to skill and skill only, Ordnance and random weapons throws that straight out of the window.
And this game lacks any innovation at all, it’s simply copy/paste of stuff that every FPS developer has done since 2007, read my Thread

I get your point. Referring back to my original comment - I said that I think they need to be tweaked, but not removed.
Comparing Halo to COD…
Halo is a lot more skill based IMO. In Halo, someone who’s good with a DMR or a BR is going rape an average player, regardless of how many shots head start the average player got.
COD is different - I don’t really see any dominant players anymore, and there’s no real skill. And that’s why I agree that we need to tweak the ordinances, so Halo doesn’t just become an imbalanced mess with Choppers and Fuel Rod cannons exploding everything.
I agree with you on ordinances, but only because they’re too random. I think they need to be tweaked, not removed completely. IMO the more kills you get without dying, the better ordinance you should get, and that’s fair IMO. Like 3 kills = Needler, extra grenades, or something simple. More kills should give you maybe a sniper or rocket launcher.
I don’t want Halo matches to be completely decided on which team has the 4 best players with the BR, which is why we need something to make it interesting. I loved Halo 2 and Halo 3, but I got bored at times because the matches all lead to the same thing - The better BR’s and who got the snipers.
We need to move forward, but we also need to make sure it doesn’t turn into Black Ops.
I agree with you to an extent, but not fully.

The thing is though, The skill gap is so low compared to previous Halo games, Reach took far more skill than Halo 4, there are many reasons for this, I see ordnance being one of them.
I’m a good player, But I don’t think it would be fair if I got better weapons in my ordnance simply for being better, “The rich get richer” comes to mind. I want to play fairly, whatever way you look at it, ordnance adds too many variables to the game.
At the end of the day I think we can agree Halo 4 is potentially an amazing game, and I love it, but it’s one of those games where it may take an update or two to be what we want it to be.
IMO they should have released a BETA and held off Halo 4 until next Fall.

I’m not really enjoying Halo 4, I’ve not played it in 2 weeks, so I can’t really agree with you there
The introduction of a real ranking system will make the difference.
I’m just basically f’ing about now for fun in custom games and big team battle, trying to stay skilled at the game.

It really wont though, It wont resolve the fact that the DMR is literally the best of everything. I’m a DMR user, it’s got Low recoil, Fast rate of fire, Good Ammo count, It’s great at all ranges, especially at long range, it out classes the BR in Short-Mid range with little effort, and it’s Bullet Magnetism is ridiculous.
The lack of de-scopping also makes the DMR even more powerful, long range fights have now become “who shoots first”
You will see people in the high ranks that wouldn’t of been there in Halo 2 or 3, there will be many people un deserving of their rank title.

Ordinance takes away skill from the game. They are a horrible idea. Plus you say this is not COD yet ordinance are basically care packages from COD. Actually ordinance is an even more noobed down version of care apckage as you don’t even need a 4 kill streak, to get it you just have to get 4 kills.

The ranking system will only be visible on waypoint so it is going to suck and be basically pointless.

It’s a video game, I’m not sure how you can be undeserving of a rank in it. It’s not like this is the real military or something. Anyway, this game still takes a lot of skill and I disagree with your statement. A skilled player will beat out a non skilled player in almost any dmr battle. The skilled player will maneuver better during the battle or initiate the battle in positioning favorable to them.
We can hope and pray all day that 343 will go back to halo 2/3. The truth is, 343 thinks they know whats best. Halo 4 by far is the biggest embarrassment to the franchise. It’s a shame to watch what was once a legendary FPS that had all the bells and whistles from the start, go to waste with crappy perks, clunky gameplay, and boring progression systems.

Disagree with me all you like, the Skill gap is incredibly low compared to previous Halo games.

Not really.
At least with Ordinances you still have to put some work in with a sniper or a weapon.
COD care packages basically give you choppers and missile strikes which take no skill what so ever.
Halo is far more skill based than COD, regardless of how many Over powered stuff has been added in.
The better players will still make themselves known, but there does need to be changes.
