Here is an idea for a rank structure for H4. Instead of win loss, which is artificially inflated in team play. How about one based on the MVP That way the ranking system for FFA play would be balanced with the system for team slayer and objective. It would be a slow rank progression system where gains are made for MVP awards only, and losses do not accrue. So your rank would actually depict your personal skill level. Camping in the corners may help in some games, aggressively taking the flag may help in others. And Team play will still demand team work but individual effort is also awarded. It would also eliminate the sale of accounts and encourage consistent play. Because progression would be so slow, We would hold old accounts and not pick up new ones for new stat tracking, it would kill the market for bogus 50,s

Also why would people switch from halo to CoD because of ranking system when they’re the same between both games of CoD vs Reach rank structure …

Well Look at it this way. To determine who is fastest you have a race And the winner is fastest. The fastest will always win the race. The best player in that game is reflected by the MVPs. And the person with the most MVPs Is statisticly the best. So a structure based on the MVP is the place to start, and the MVP is the person to beat.
still think this is a great idea, even if modified to work as a percentage of games plaid the MVP should be the basis for rank determination.

Also, FFA style systems are exploitable. Win as a team, lose as a team. Its a team game. Stats dont mean everything, for example in Reach, assists are awkward to get. I could pump bullets in left right and centre, hold map control, while my mate cleans one shots and gets the glory, and the “MVP” status.
A system where Im competing AGAINST my own team mates wont work, and has already been proved to not work.

Slayer? I wouldnt team shot, id clean up kills, betray for power weapons etc.
Bring rankings back but make only a top percentage able to hit 50 or the equivelant. When someone reaches 50(or whatever) someone else is booted out because they sre no longer good enough. Rank should be about how good you are. If i had my way everyine would stsrt st 50 between 1-100 and you would rank up or down accordingly until you fit. And like waypoints rank system i would be about rank 65. Not too shabby
Personally i hated 50s there was to much boosting, it was terrible unless you earn it genuinely. I think a brand new ranking system is the best way.

I for one like the time spent progressive system or whatever you want to call it. The more one plays, the more they are rewarded. Keeps em coming back, and this is what I think Devs want, people coming back.
Base rank off of points. If you get many points, then you are obviously contributing much to the team. Then again, I don’t see how this would prevent boosters.

obviously i disagree, competing against your own team raises the bar for everyone in the game. There are answers to team killing that could be implemented as well. Yes many types of races are team competitions. Ever heard of a relay race. And the MVP is the place to start, there may be ways to improve on the selection of the MVP. but way to many people were carried up the ranks by team mates, or garnered there stats by camping while there teams worked. There should be some reflection of merit for taking the Bomb, flags, for the score over kills for the stats.

Theres the problem right there.
And, getting carried works as you progrss up the ranks, but you dont get carried at a high level. A team at a similar high level would destroy 3 high level players and a backpacker.

It would be a progression system based on MVPs so progression would be slow, and all games would be competitive. But because the progression was based on the number of MVPs awarded the merit would be legit. It would take time for there to be a significant change in the pool of players. But the cream would always rise to the top. You couldn’t points boost because you would have to be there to win the MVP.

Not in H3 they didn’t. who’s to say both teams didn’t have backpackers. Boosting was awful up there thats why frankie himself don’t want 1-50
I really don’t like this system…It’s design counters teamwork. Baiting and switching won’t work the same way. No one would ever want to be the bait, and everyone would be baiting their teammates. Kill stealing would be thoroughly encouraged, and weapon camping even more so. Oftentimes, I receive the most shots and get the most assists so my teammates can sneak and get the final shot on them, and according to the ranking system that would make them much better than me, and for doing all the dirty work, I’d get nothing. And what happens to the below average player that never gets MVP? Does he stay at the lowest rank until he does? Win/loss is better, it promotes teamwork. And there’s nothing wrong with making progression slower, forcing more wins for each successive rank.
