Halo 4 Proportions.

Each game has had their own look, which generally in terms of proportions, stayed the same.

Which do you guys prefer, the “sleeker” tinier look of Reach.

Or the in your face action that Halo 2 had for example. I’m referring to how large things appear from your perspective, in Halo 2 when a guy ran up into melee range he was right in your face. You could see everything in the maps in full detail and it felt more immersive. Whereas when I’m playing Reach I feel like everything is very impersonal, even when I’m 10 feet away from someone their Spartan model is so tiny.

For those of you blasphemers that don’t remember, or haven’t played Halo 2. This video should show off some different clips of running around/fighting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlY_DggO5Vg

To me this classical look is important, not only for a lot of the LOL’s I had but for a lot of the intense action that was had in that game. Is this important to you guys, do you feel the look in Reach is better or would you feel that this older look is more suitable, not only for nostalgia, but for a more enjoyable gameplay experience?

Personally I’m going to go with Halo 2’s proportions. Obviously with a newer title it would look cleaner, but this would also serve to display graphically how beautiful the game can be. There’s a decent amount of detail in the armor in Reach, but you can’t really even see that fidelity with the way Reach looks in first person without zooming in theater mode. I find myself also unable to truly take in some of the armor pieces because from that distance I would have to try harder to make them out as opposed to them being in my face. Mind you, when it comes to making a game the cosmetics of it are the least of my concers, but I figured I’d try to nail all angles as many people have different preferences/tastes.

I feel from a more competitive standpoint it is more enjoyable to punch a guy in the face and see it all in up close detail : )
