In Halo 4’s prologue, it shows master chief being handed Cortana by Halsey. I thought Noble 6 was the one who brought Cortana to Keyes which he would eventually give to Chief? Would’ve been interesting if they put a Noble 6 cameo instead of MC.

That portion of the Reach game was really just kind of fan service, Chief and Cortana’s history goes years prior to the conflict on Reach. Cortana is a human AI construct, not some AI found in the bowels of the planet Reach.
There’s a really complex/retconny Halo universe answer and information into this, but it’s a bit confusing and you should just read the books yourself 
Well Halo: Reach (despite my personal like), have kind of ruined (or at least confused) the lore around the fall of reach.
Now the lore is this:
- Cortana was created by Dr.Halsey, which she flash-cloned her brain to create Cortana (Smart AIs are created by biological human brains, usually from donators. Halsey cloned her own brain despite being illegal, but haters gonna hate) - Cortana was created in 2549 for OPERATION: RED FLAG, which was a Spartan-II op to kidnap a prophet to end the war. - Halsey kept Cortana around until RED FLAG was announced, which all Spartan-IIs were called to Reach, given the new Mark V armor, and which presumably, Cortana - Halsey kept a fragment of Cortana around until Reach was attacked, analyzed the forerunner ruins, got the coordinates of Halo, give the fragment to Noble 6 which was delivered to the Autumn - The Cortana fragment join the Cortana on the ship, Cortana plotted slipspace to Installation 04, thus Halo: CE

Totally get it man, I’m a game first guy as well,so I figured I’d just try to break it down to its simplest terms.
