What happens to people who get Halo 4 for Christmas, if it was purchased at full price, and they try to return it (unopened) for another game that is maybe futher along in development?
Will they be able to get $59.99 back or just $39.99?
They get back what was paid for it. If you paid $40 you don’t get $60 back. If you paid $60 you get $60 back.
It’s all according to your store’s policy.
Usually unopened games are full refund within 30days. After that, it starts to vary greatly.

Unless they don’t have the receipt, in which case they will receive whatever the current price is for the item.

Good luck getting a refund with no receipt…
Also sometimes when stores do Holiday Sales, they might add in a non refund clause.
Either way, don’t expect to go ripping off stores.
