What do you guys like about Halo 4?
Improvements from previous games?
we’ve all heard the things people don’t like 100x over, and I thought it would be interesting to hear the things people DO like about Halo 4.
Fire away!

I like the graphics… I hate everything else.
I think they did a good job with the Spartan customization. Alot of armor, visors, emblems, etc. They definitely should’ve kept armor effects like in Reach though. Only thing that sucks is they took some of the classic armor and emblems out.
I like the graphic design and the sounds are crisp and spot on. I don’t have much else besides that.
I love the weapon balance and instant respawn.
Oh, wait…
Game is very fluid and fun.
Graphics.
No bad maps.
Campaign was nice.
The overall darker tone of the story, the beautiful visual improvements (this game looks like it runs on Unreal 3, but lacks the drawbacks of that engine), and the incredible sound design.
I think that this is a great game. When I first finished the beginning of the first mission, I was blown away by how realistic it looked. I thought it was a quick time evnt when you plummet into requiem and I was just like Holy YOINK, this is AMAZING. Multiplayer is for the most part balanced and is fun with friends.
No more friendly fire.
-Campaign was fun, great cutscenes and writing. Direction was excellent.
-MP is the most fun I’ve had since Halo 2.
-Forge feels more varied. Yes, we don’t have a huge forge world, but the variety makes up for it, imo.
-The new forerunner weapons are just awesome.
-Graphics- really great.
-Map- range from decent to superb. Superb ones are Longbow, Haven, Solace, and Ragnarok.
-Spartan customization and stances are sweet.
-Music was exceptional.
-I actually dig the no friendly fire system. So much less frustration now when I pick up a power weapon and someone is pissed at me.
-The menu UI is actually pretty efficient, in contrast to what I believed at first. I’ve grown on it and I can get things done much faster than I had originally believed.
-Spartan Ops is a great way to continue the story until the next Halo launch, despite some lag issues.
-All the weapons feel very tight and fluid, especially the BR. Feels so much better than the Halo 3 br.
I like how the multiplayer has become more than just charging someone on full auto so you could finish him with a melee. It’s more tactical (utilizing cover and gaining fire superiority). I like how good the graphics are, esp the amazing videos for Spartan Ops and the couple of vids in the campaign. I also like the Domain gametype and how the capture points are miniature bases.
The War Games menu music isn’t an operatic earful like previous titles, where the menu music was louder than the game audio.
The Mantis was a nice touch.
Campaign was good.
Spartan Ops is decent.
The cinematics are awesome, and I would love to see much more of them.
-Campaign was really good both narrative wise and gameplay wise.
-Spartan Ops is a really great addition and I hope they continue it.
-The armor customization options are great.
-The create your own loadout system is nice.
-The ordinance drops in infinity slayer are a nice addition.
-The SAW, Buffed Needler, Incineration Cannon, Binary Rifle, Scattershot, and Sticky
Detonator are great new power weapons.
-The initial ordinance spawns having waypoints on them is a good addtion.
-Throwing the Oddball makes Oddball a much more interesting gametype.
-The ability to shoot with the flag makes CTF more dynamic and fun.
-Default Slayer Pro is fun when you want to play with no Armor abilties.
-Join in progress helps games with quitters finish.
-I like being able to see peoples spartans in the menu.
-Thruster pack is cool.
-Hit detection and overall connection seems improved in this game.
-The maps in this game are fantastic.
-New forge environments and more colorful pieces.
-More user friendly options in forge like magnets and duplicate item options.
-The background skill ranking seems to match me with people of similar skill more than reach’s system did.
-Graphics and cutscenes are fantastic.
-Specializations and tactical packages + support upgrades are good additions.
-The vehicles in this game are balanced, powerful but stoppable.
-The option to spawn with a mid range weapon in any gametype (no AR spawns).
-Bleed through damage making double melees less effective like in reach.
-Stopping power effect from bullets slows sprinting players.
-Buffing the AR + adding the Storm Rifle and Suppressor and making automatic weapons viable at close range.
-Character movement in general feels really smooth and fluid.
-Higher jump height than in reach feels better.
NOTE: THIS IS A POSITIVE ONLY LIST; THERE ARE NEGATIVES TO THIS GAME BUT THESE ARE THE THINGS I LIKED
the campaigen, one hell of a tear jerker btw)
Spartan Ops.
Armor Variety,
some extra forge stuff
I don’t have to be the smae as the DMR guys
and instant respawn wich helps in getting back int he action.
and no friendly fire
the bad part
Elites are not Playable
I love the weapon balance. It’s no longer a complete one weapon game. Guy with a DMR bump into you from around the corner. Mow him down with a SAW. BR is good for close quarters and the DMR is good for long range, just how it should be. Snipers excel at long range, just as they should. The AR buff, couldn’t be more pleased, I was seriously tired of the weak, BB gun that the other games tried to call an “Assault Rifle”. Every weapon has uses. It’s no longer DMR is king and all else save for power weapons is useless.
The sounds
The movement speed
The BR
Thats it
The Master Chief and Cortana return!
graphics and campaign
-the audio is extremely amazing, from the sounds of enemy footsteps to ghosts and pumas swooping by.
-each gun feels great. There are times when I want to pick up a defeated foe’s weapon because I know I’ll enjoy using it.
-Being able to throw the oddball. -Yoinking!- brilliant.
-Being able to see the new hill.
-Loadouts. No AR only starts? Yes please!
-Dominion. Seriously love the crap out of this playlist, only wish it was 8v8 and had less power weapons.
-All promethean weapons (except the stupid boltshot).
-Armor abilities. Especially thruster pack.
-Not being unzoomed when shot. (But I don’t like the recoil mechanic.)
-Hitscan weapons.
-Player movement and jump height.
-Strafing is back and is super crisp!
-The campaign, gameplay and storywise.
-The beautiful CGI cutscenes.
-The characters in campaign and spartan ops.
-Spartan ops itself, I already have some fond memories.
-JiP system. It has its problems, but with patches it will be a great addition.
-Magnets in forge. As a new forger they’re great and make forging a lot more fun.
-The massive amount of power weapons.
-The railgun. This weapon already has a special place in my heart.
-The new assassinations. I love pulling them off, even if it is very difficult.
-Infinity slayer…to a degree. Although it really shouldn’t be its own playlist.
-The art style and just general beauty of everything in this game.
-Commendations. I love earning them and watching my progress.
-The new leveling system. It’s great to be rewarded alot.
-The specializations. I like how this system separates itself from most progression systems. I also like how you earn new armor, emblems, and mods from completing one.
-Most of the armor mods. They seem to make my spartan more…me.
-The wide range of armor. Although I don’t like alot of them, I do like being given a range of choices.
-the color wheel for the game and armors. Very complimentary.
-the massive amount of visor colors.
-how commendations unlock armor.
-Emblems. I love the new ones and how some actually mean something.
-The stances. Very fun to choose them and unlock them.
-The voting system. I like how quick and smooth it is compared to reach and halo3.
-daily, weekly, and monthly challenges. It is very fun to log on, work hard for the dailies, while keeping in mind the weeklies, and eventually earning the monthly. Wish there was a daily and monthly in spartan ops.
-The vehicles. They are just fun to fight with and against.
-The puma’s handling. I can literally do barrel rolls and land wheels up. Then I can do it again on the ground. By far the best controls and handling yet in Halo.
-Ragnarok and Exile. I love playing on these maps.
-The Flagnum. While I don’t like auto-pick up and not being able to drop the flag, having a weapon out often gives me an incentive to grab it. Even at the cost of m life.
-The power and specialty of the grenades. The frags really feel like anti-personal while the stickies are really anti-vehicle. But the pulse are rather useless until they get a buff.
-Fighting and killing crawlers. Love how they explode.
-Assassinating enemy AI. It was so difficult in reach it was rare, but in halo4 I manage to sneak behind them all the time.
-The sounds spartans make. Serious, even a body rolling down a ramp sounds like a tank.
-the buffed AR. I can consistently get triple kills with it, but it’s not a noob weapon either.
-The massive amount of medals. Sometimes it’s great killing one guy and getting 4 medals for it. Although I miss some of the ones they removed.
-The mammoth in campaign. Very fun to fight on, hope they bring the elephant back in DLC.
-player trait zones in forge.
-gravity wells in forge. I’ve already seen an inkling of what they’re potential is.
-Impact. It’s such a beautiful forge pallet.
-Hit markers. So many people just straight up forget them but I think they’re a great addition.
That’s all I can think of for now. Obviously this is my “like” list. My dislike list is equally as long. But thanks for posting this topic OP, it’s made me remember why I love Halo and why I’m loving Halo4…most of the time.
