Im so sick of Halo 4 population threads that i made one…?
Halo 4 is he number 2 most played game on xbox live.
If you think Halo 4 catered more to the competitive crowd, it would have a bigger population, you’re delusional. The population is as high as it is because of the COD (common fps features) elements added.
If you “hardcore” Maybe stopped posting about halo 4’s population and played more the game, they would be less of these kind of threads.
Console gaming is on a steady decline anyway, less and less people are playing console games online nowadays.
I wish 343 would take out the API, and online showing of players in a playlist so that no one would complain about it anymore. Just play the game.
I agree that population online does not matter unless you have trouble finding a game.
However, Halo is a one console game. Being #2 on XBox Live does not take into account for other consoles and PC players.
I will admit that the numbers seem much lower than I would expect. I can get into games, but the Host changes, lag, poor maps and Playlist mess keep me from playing right now.

Where is your basis in this?
Halo 3 was competitive, and it pulled more people 3 years after launch than halo 4 is currently pulling now. And halo 3 most certainly was the complete opposite of cod in terms of fps.
There hasn’t been a competitive halo since halo 3, matchmaking wise, which was 2 years ago.
Halo 3 had both competitive and non competitive playlists. And it worked out fine. Why halo reach/4 don’t have this is beyond me.
And in fact, couldn’t it be deduced that the reason halo 4 is doing so much worse than previous halo titles is because most people can see that halo 4 is just a knock off of cod so they just play the original instead. In this world there are two types of gamers, those who play just for fun, and those who play for fun and to win.
There is nowhere for the competitive console gamers to go, so here we are at the birthplace asking for something that should have never been eliminated and doesn’t hurt one single person.
We know that halo reach was worse than Halo 3. Why? we can never say for sure. The only way to find out it to actually implement what was removed in halo 3 into halo 4. If it doesn’t work out then fine, you win, i’ll quit console gaming and we will never have to go back.
Also halo is 2nd highest? Well great, you have just proved that people will prefer the shiniest piece of garbage.

Logic is flawed.
Halo 3’s population counter=Every single unique player in 24 hours.
Halo 4’s population counter=Every single player in WAR GAMES: MATCHMAKING, playing at this exact second.
