Halo 4 Population low ?????

The population for HALO 4 is lowering by the day, but its funny it sold 8.55 million copies so does this mean the game is bad ? Copies are still being sold today even though 343 upset the HALO community and at the same time they really pleased a lot of others in the process. The game got awards, high rated views and the game is being updated constantly. I do have to say as a HALO fan I was really happy to see the game get a lot of credit. The story was awesome and forge, multiplayer Spartan Ops seemed good to a lot of people. What I think was HALO 4’s biggest downfall was multiplayer. These are the reasons why I think HALO 4’s population is low.

1 RANKING SYSTEM- SR130 Are you kidding me 343. Also there is also no competitive ranking system in H4 CSR is there but the fact its not in game really kills the purpose.

2 SAME MAPS- Haven, exile and forge maps are played constantly. On top of that there are only a few maps actually in the game that shipped with it. Concluding the forge worlds feel very rushed.

3 MISSING CLASSIC HALO- 343 has done a lot to update the game. Modifying the weapons like the BR to make it four shot. Or reducing the range on the Boltshot, neutral flag, legendary slayer, team snipes. These are some of the aspects the game should have shipped with.

These are the three main reasons why HALO 4’S population is low and just in general. There is not replayability factors to halo 4.

=(

Tell me what you guys think in the comments below

I think the forums have too many of these threads, all are just re-worded :-/

Here’s what I’d like:

-Remove personal ordinance
-Keep loadouts just tweak further
-AA’s as map pickups except sprint
-Better designed maps for all of this

I am starting to think that personal loadouts actually make gaming in general boring it’s more intense too fight for a weapon.

I agree with all 3 points.

#2 is just painful (I’ve cried enough about DLC for a lifetime). I’ll simply say I agree.

#1 is a big deal too, even for a more casual / average player like myself. The ranking system in H3 was not only good for the 50’s. When I got into the upper 20’s it game me a reason to keep striving for 30. I loved ‘seeing’ progress.

#3 is debatable… but overall I think you’re on the more popular side (classic vs new) b/c population numbers don’t lie (:

I personally would add the following:

#4 frustrating connection (lag, black screens, host selection). Just is a fun sponge regardless if you’re on the ‘classic’ or ‘new’ side of the fence.

iNocturne: I completely agree with the fact that loadouts are ruining it… and I have always been pro-loadouts (or at least starting weapon choice at least). Since when does Halo have ‘perks & pods’… it just doesn’t make sense for this type of shooter.

I have to admit I’m agreeing more and more with the classic folks.

I have tried to give into it since reach but i saw myself just playing infection beacuse it was like a normal gametype not saying this because of nostaliga.

I think this “fighting for stuff” led 343i to believe that what everyone wants is the “stuff”, so they give it all away in Wargames.

We fought over the rocket launchers because there was at most two on the battlefield and your team needed one if not both. However, in many games people fought over things like that just because they wanted to have them, perhaps because they couldn’t be effective without them.

Now, because everyone gets them on demand, no one needs to develop basic skills. Hence, good players no longer play.

It’s like that old story about teaching a hungry man to fish instead of just giving him one.

We don’t get them on demand though.

I agree with the highlighted, this is supposed to be the official thread for any/all population talk, https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst183468_Daily-Halo-4-Population-Thread.aspx ,

I agree, IMO Halo Reach has a good system, some call it a grind, BUTTT, it does give you something to work toward and a sense of accomplishment when (and I know I may be skipping ranks)rank up from captain to Major.

130 is to easily obtainable (cheapens the game IMO)with double xp and going between AA’s you skip a level, ie: SR60 (choose what you want)get skipped to SR62, thats one level in less then 10 seconds

even (as an example only) Border lands 2 has increased their levels (orig when game came out 50, then to 61 then 72 op8(level 80)because it was to easy to hit 50

Well the big isue is that there a lot more great games coming out more frequently like in the old h2 days there was nothin even close to compete with it now we got new consols and new great games coming out all the time. So imo h4 is doin great considering the game over a year old. The life span in all games will change be like to try new things and there are a lot of them now a day 6-10 years ago it was just halo so in this gen for a game over a year old is doing very well. H5 i think will stay strong for a while because the technology will have so much more to offer but that is just my personal opinion

Guys, there is a thread for Halo 4’s population:

https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst183468_Daily-Halo-4-Population-Thread.aspx

I think 343 left a lot out and it would be pointless for them to try to make h4 stay popular for years is pretty impossible them noing xbox one was coming out i think they saved all there surprise for the next coming years for the next gen consols and it is smart on there part if xbox 1 wasn’t coming out for 3 more year i bet u 343 would of made the game a hell of a lot better for people to play for years. Its a smart decision in the long run and i know 343 will make h5 another smash halo title that will keep people playin for years got faith in them. 343 i still liked h4 a lot and to all u haters will be lovin 343 when every thing is all set and done

Here are the reasons I am not interested in Halo 4 and hope 343i can improve on.

SIngleplayer:
-Replayability
-Atleast explain more for the folks who never read the books
-Something like skulls or Vidmaster that offers a challenge and chance for some fun with friends.

Multiplayer
-None of that perks/mods business
-Less playlist recycling, if my fav playlist is removed for a long time then I lose incentive to play MP
-Crack down on hacking, nearly every game I join there’s some dude without a head insta killing everyone.

Overall the story is good, I cam to accept it, and the multiplayer has a chance to succeed but not without some changes to bring back the Halo we knew.

Since they only seem to measure success by the number of sales, it’s the most successful game in the franchises’ history. I actually saw a post on Twitter about how 2013 has been the most successful year in franchise history. I almost spit out my coffee.

Halo 3 had a bigger population than Halo 4 last night, that’s just sad.

Halo 4 may have a low population, but Halo is FAR from over…

As a few people already pointed out, we have an official thread for population discussion:

https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst183468_Daily-Halo-4-Population-Thread.aspx

All population discussion belongs in this thread.
