After the launch of halo 4 I’ve been kinda concerned with the population of halo 4. To me it looks like it’s dying in my eyes but I could be wrong. But I would like to hear your opinions on the population of halo 4.
Halo Reach started declining worse than Halo 4 did after a COD release. The fact that it’s pulling above 40k is reason enough to celebrate.
With Reach, i remember that BOs didn’t come out the week after and still, the population came crashing down.
IMO of course.
Plus, you haven’t seen a dead population until you’ve seen Gears of War 3 after all the trend kids stopped playing. Even Reach had more players playing it than 3 IIRC.
I wouldn’t technically say that it is dying per say just the fact that most of the COD players, and people who complain about everything left. Honestly good riddance to them, just as long as I can get into a game, I’m happy.
Its a great game, but it has no incentive to get hooked for the competitive gamers, casual gamers who wana just pick up and play and get a bunch of kills play COD.
Halo wont steal much of the COD fanboys cause halo is hard to learn, its a tough game that requires thinking and strategy like the game of chess. COD is easy like Checkers.
Once they add in game ranks and clan matches, global leaderboards and fix all the minor bugs the competitive guys will come back. But for now its competing with COD.
> I wouldn’t technically say that it is dying per say just the fact that most of the COD players, and people who complain about everything left. Honestly good riddance to them, just as long as I can get into a game, I’m happy.
So the 300,000 people who played halo 3 up until reach came out are CoD fans?
Face it, this game is enjoyable to a fraction of the halo population.
halo 4 is trying too hard to be COD and these two can never be alike.
There needs to be something innovative to Halo, yet we’re rehashed with the Reach game. So, 3/4 years of work are invested in ideas that ripped off COD in some aspects (undeniable).
Well you can blame 343i for failing short of plenty things H4 suffers, a list that expands hundreds of bullets of problems. At this point, it doesn’t matter since H4 is going to die out like a cancer. Tough to hear.
Halo 4 is dying because its not the true halo formula i don’t care what you say if 343 would have ACTUALLY gone back to the roots of halo and not followed the mistakes reach made halo would be on top again.
> I wouldn’t technically say that it is dying per say just the fact that most of the COD players, and people who complain about everything left. Honestly good riddance to them, just as long as I can get into a game, I’m happy.
I dont see how people who see a problem with the game currently and dont feel like dealing with some of the blam that happens is a bad thing. I get into match after match with players who just quad spam the dmr at me while my team derps around in a corner.
Personally I played blops 2 this weekend and it was very easy compared to halo 4. However even though I plan to purchase blops 2 I have been haveing a ich to pwn kids with my AR again.
Alot of people rent games now for a week or 2 and then do the same for a new game.
a three year old baby can press A over and over and eventually the three year old baby will have a high rank, give him long enough he will reach SR 130.
Thats the everyone wins ranking system we have now. A thee year old baby pressing A over and over gets a high rank…
> I wouldn’t technically say that it is dying per say just the fact that most of the COD players, and people who complain about everything left. Honestly good riddance to them, just as long as I can get into a game, I’m happy.
Oh we’re all so sorry that we we paid £60 for a BETA. A game full of more bugs and glitches that affects our actual enjoyment of the game. We’ll complain as much as we like for being ripped off on something which Bungie gave us for FREE!
No wonder the population is dead. This is the time we need dedicated servers as there is such a low population, lag, black screen is going to be much more common.
COD as more players in 1 playlist than the entire population of Halo 4. What does that say about your fantastic game.
> Halo 4 is dying because its not the true halo formula i don’t care what you say if 343 would have ACTUALLY gone back to the roots of halo and not followed the mistakes reach made halo would be on top again.
To be honest I don’t think it would have mattered the “formula” really, just my opinion. Halo has always been the type of game that it helps to know the story from the beginning and its hard for someone to get into a game such as Halo if they haven’t played it before.
It’s hard to get new players interested in Halo, especially if all they have ever played is FPS like COD, Medal of Honor, or Battlefield. Halo is different type of fps than all of those three, even at this point its a different feel, and thats where I still think it’s Halo at heart. Yeah they have advanced things, and with a little fine tuning of things I think it’ll be perfect.
It’s losing players partially because of Black Ops 2, and that’s to be expected, as so many players are use to that type of arcade style shooter. But I think “die” hard or long term Halo fans are going to stick with the game; and if they quit because it isn’t what THEY want, then I guess they weren’t really die hard fans in the first place.
I myself will play numerous different style shooters, and enjoy a portion of each one. Halo will always be one of my favorite games, but I can’t always play the same game or I will get burnt out regardless of the title (guess I can’t game like I use to lol). But Halo by far has always been the best story driven fps I’ve played and always will be. And I am only curious as to see what 343i can do with the series.
Give it time, the numbers will climb back up, after all the game did just come out and Christmas is around the corner, so who knows how many players will get Halo 4 for Christmas, as many have probably already bought Black Ops 2 since it was their must have instead of Halo. We will just wait and see though.
> Halo 4 is dying because its not the true halo formula i don’t care what you say if 343 would have ACTUALLY gone back to the roots of halo and not followed the mistakes reach made halo would be on top again.
this
I don’t think the population will ever go back up.
It’s dropping, and with good reason. 343i is conspicuously silent on all the stupidly amateurish mistakes they made, not fixing anything or even acknowledging it.
The game is woefully limited in terms of variety, and since the competitive aspect has gone out the window there’s no reason for the hardcore crowd to stick around either.
I would say this is par for the course with the future games, too, because 343i has had PLENTY of time to at least respond on the problems, and they haven’t. They’ve established themselves right out of the gate as a lazy, corporate-run, arrogant developer. And that isn’t enticing anyone to stay with them.
And before anyone says “it’s a new studio, give them the benefit of the doubt”, this “new studio” is staffed by experienced people. This ain’t their first rodeo. Don’t mistake incompetence for inexperience.

You mean how many 10 year olds will join the population?? ¬_¬

Gears of War 3 isn’t dead. Sure it’s got a really small population but that’s only because IMO Gears isn’t as popular as Halo or COD because it’s, again IMO, harder than both Halo and COD. Anyway, back on topic. Yes, I forgot what the topic was about but I agree.
Mmm Flame.
Anyways,

Listen, I know this game is riddled with bugs, and I mean TRUST ME I KNOW. But it’s honestly nothing to get your -Yoink!- knotted up in a bunch about. This is the FIRST time that 343i has made their own game ( CEA doesn’t count because it’s just a re textured CE.) and that is why I am so forgiving. Not all games are perfect to begin with take Skyrim for example, that game probably has one of the highest bug count upon release. Plus this is a HUGE undertaking that 343i was faced with because they had to live up to the hype that Bungie built up for the Halo Franchise. Oh and this…

…makes me laugh. Halo is its own beast in itself, people need to stop comparing the two because they are nothing alike. “OH HALO 4 HAS LOADOUTS NOW? THEY ARE SOOOO COPYING COD. HALO 4 HAS SPRINT/GUNS/KILLSTREAKS(ordnance)/PERKS SOOO MUCH COD ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY!” Any person with slight gaming knowledge would know that COD was not the first game to introduce loadouts, a perk system, and “kill streaks” secondly “yet we’re rehashed with the Reach game.” What do you think COD is? They spit out the same game, just with a different skin over it, every year. The maps play the same, the guns are the same, the campaign is the same, and the community is the same. Yet people still by it, why? Because children love games that take no skill.

The same thing that is happening to this series happened to the best console shooter series I have ever played which is the Socom series. They tried to attract a broader user base by CODing the game up. What ended up happening is they didnt attract any of the cod fans for more than a week, and they lost many Socom fans for life.
Im not a COD fan, but its good at what it does. Why would I play a game that is copying another game that does the same thing better? When games try to be to much, they end up being nothing special. Just look at the latest Resident Evil release.

you sir… I salute.

Ill give a free 3month xbox live game card code to the first person that can tell me the name of a game that released with 0 bugs. Today’s generation of gamers think everything needs to be out yesterday and done with 0 bugs, because there is no logical reason for a coder to make some kind of mistake with over a million lines of code.
