This time next week there will be well over 100k on Halo.
Factor in that not all Halo gamers are 15 years old or younger, they may be out shopping and getting ready for other holiday things.
The holiday presents from this time next week will boost the population a good bit. And I am not sure how the recent events in the news and the shadow it cast on Call of Duty may really have parents contemplating if they will give Call of Duty as a gift this year.
It will be interesting to see what Halo is doing next week but the real test will be what it is lets say Jan 15th. See if the novelty wore off at all.
I 100% guarentee that the population will be >100k (see what I did there needscrack) but like you say once the novelty wears off…
We’ll definatly see a spike in the graph come christmas morning, I’ll be the same ski slope after though.
The OP has no context. It is not a measure of how good the game is doing relative to previous Halos or any other game. The Halocharts values do not include the total players online which includes campaign, Spartan Ops, custom games, theatre, Forge or idling. The Halocharts values give accurate measure of what is happening in the current playlists but that is all. It is not a comparison with any other game and by itself cannot be used to say whether Halo 4 is doing well or not.

It’s fading cos they’re isolating their fans in a ring of bull crap! The crimson free trial’s lies, a game with unfinished features and blatant basic glitches, core halo fans feeling pushed out and neglected, cheap mechanics, it’s all building to the death of Halo. Makes me sad. It had a good run. Come to the world of pc people! Games are cheap or free, you’re not charged JUST to play online and there’s mods galore! lol

I agree that its not useful for comparing against other games unless your looking at the games overall ability to hold its player base.
It is a single metric that can however be used to compare a game to itself. In that sense it is very clear that H4 has lost over 3/4 of its players since launch and it continues to decline.
This is not a comparison to any other game - however a similar tracking chart would be intresting to see if other recent AAA games have lost 3/4 peak population since launch in a 1.5 months.
> Well being the week before the holidays I imagine that there is quite a lot of players away on vacation, visiting family, getting ready for there holiday etc, etc.
Please stop making excuses, it’s just feeding the trolls.

Blops 2 did.
I could care less what the population is as long as I can still find matches in matchmaking.
Oh and < means LESS THEN for the dude who said the op was wrong.

This makes me laugh. If it’s a pet peeve, you’d think you would get it right.
If I see this freakin chart again I’m gonna flip -Yoink!-! For the love of God this is only tracking War Games population! This doesn’t count how many people are playing Spartan Ops, Forge, Customs, Theatre, Campaign, or even just browsing the options in the menu. There’s well above 100k on Halo 4 in general. Besides, I don’t see anywhere on that God forsaken chart that it goes below 100k. -_-
EDIT: Correction, I just noticed it did drop below that number. But who the hell cares? And like I said, it’s only tracking War Games. It doesn’t count for those doing something else.

Also, If halo 4 is doing so bad I don’t see how it could be holding the second spot on the xbl charts since a week after release. That clearly proves there is more people playing then just the war games population that chart shows.
i love the game, but 343i needs to bring forge into mp, bring in grifball, action sack, permanent snipers, change up flood, an put in more small 4v4 maps.

Nope, i love halo 4 and I’m not going to let anyone else convince me otherwise.

Yes, someone who agrees.
Thank you.
light bulb I know what everyone is doing. There’s a LOT of customs going on now. They’re getting tired of the stuff in War Games and making their own games with their own rules. Actually, I’m planning on making a custom game myself. I already did, I created a gametype called “SWAT ARs”, basically SWAT with Assault Rifles. Haven’t tested it with other players but I think I’ll do one some time. But I’m also thinking about making 3 custom classic gametypes, one for Combat Evolved, one for 2, and one for 3. I might even make several if I have the time. Obviously some stuff I won’t be able to do (ie: disable sprint), but I’ll try my best to make it as close to classic as possible. If anyone wants to join message me. GT is my username: DonnyDoo22.
> I do know a rather large amount of gamers who were waiting until Christmas to get their copies. It will undoubtedly rise substantially at that time.
Only a temporary boost… it’s falling. Christmas isn’t going to do anything. They too will be leaving after maybe 2 months, or staying…
A rarely get back on it…

I have seen the same charts for Halo 3 and REACH and they look the same as that for Halo 4. A huge drop off in population over the fisrt month or so. Unfortunately, I do not have these in hand.
I do have this REACH playlist population study I did last January. What I found was that the MM population was only 50%-60% of the total online. Applying that to Halo 4 we could ‘speculate’ it’s total online population to be close to 200,000. Only 343i knows for sure but with Halo 4 being in XBLive’s 2nd place I’d wager it’s close to that.

I would not try to convince you, sir. I also enjoy the multiplayer, generally speaking, but there ARE issues that need dealing with and 343’s and microsoft’s questionable handling of certain issues is another reason I won’t be endorsing this product further. And the fact is it’s fan base is decreasing, enjoyable for you or me or not.
Peak population argument has already been proven wrong. Why do people keep trying it…?
