The problem with matchmaking is that the system doesnt connect you to a good connection as possible. Sometime when you have a good connection with players, one of them lags causing a chain reaction, which makes other players lag to. 40% of my matchmaking I encounter “waiting for player” or severe lagging
Not surprising, I don’t think it has completely bottomed out either. The lack of ranked and social and playlists that are worth and fun playing is bringing down the population.
Like right now, my console is on the H4 lobby but I don’t feel like playing any of the playlists. They are just not fun unless you have a team going and the FFA ones are not true FFA playlists.

Removal of Griffball, i think was a huge impact as it was a popular community game playlist.
At the moment I am focusing on reaching level 100-130 so I am not bothered at the moment with Playlist. hopefully once I reach 130, everything is fixed. reason why I wanna reach 130, i dont need to bother about grinding later on and just focus on unlocks and etc
Having been around HALO since its original launch, and especially since HALO 2 when the online element really took off, 343i has overseen the worst launch of a HALO game in the series history
You can tell that the many issues plaguing the online are forcing people to move to other online games, its the simple truth. Instead of being the game that people turned to, its the one they are turning away from
The lack of interaction and feedback from 343i is a big reason for this I feel, they are virtually invisible on their own forums, they only reply to kiss -Yoink- suck up positive messages over social media like Facebook and Twitter, and those reporting issues, serious problems are ignored
Its just not good enough and people who know the series are used to Bungie’s style of listening to the community that drove it forward and 343i are not following or using this model
The playlists are boring, the voting system means the same maps will be picked almost every time, the imbalance of international connections is just so frustrating at times, how many kill cams can you watch where your killer has hit everything around but you and yet hitmarkers give them the kill
It is not a lost cause, its only been the first month and lessons can be learned, but 343i need to change up their level of community interaction and start tweeking the online experience to please rather then annoy its community or numbers will keep dropping

Griffball was never included since the beginning, and even if it was included right now I don’t think people would be active in H4 anyways due to it. But who knows, personally it was -Yoinked!- up for 343 to announce they made a personal thing for griffball but not even include it as a playlist at launch.
I remember Griffball in H3, even talks about it back then of making it Ranked… which never happened. But the only reason it was so damn popular was because it was temporary. It was a double xp playlist that came on the weekend, so you could take a break from the frustrations of the ranked playlists and just play some fun griffball with friends. And it also gave people a big incentive to play for the double xp since a lot of people liked looking like they had perfect records in there service record in H3.

Sad to say but you are right
and for the first time, I cant believe im saying this but here it goes
Treyarch started listening to the community, they are now listening to hardcore players. opinions what playlist to add to hardcore mode. They even swiftly managed to solve the prestige hackers. its been only a few weeks since release but Treyarch is stepping up their game. Just multiplayer issue tho but they are now being resolve

Guess so. 343i needs to step it up.
May I say I am loving this talk. Mod should pin this and 343i should read all of this. this where opinions are being heard

Starting this thread was a great idea i guess. Just keep it clean… opinions. Let the mod PIN this and let 343i read this!
> Call me crazy, but this “severe” drop in players did occur the day CoD was released…
there was few days of stabilize population. During november 18, 5 days after Blops 2 it started decreasing. rapidly. 29 November and 30th started a sudden decrease as there was a server issue… dont count that.

True, I just thought people should realize the most popular shooter around (for some reason) released on the 13th and should therefore absolutely expect a decrease in numbers. I’d expect more players during the holiday season as it approaches. This game certainly has some issues, but there have been much much worse than this in other franchises. I think with time 343i will get everything together and there will still be haters.

Had these moments a few times myself lol. Def need some fun new playlists. Grifball would be fun as mentioned before

Those that quit the came were cod players who gave HALO 4 a try. mid percentage of those quiters are those who complains alot. small percentage of those are those who have jobs which they barely logs on. the rest remains are true halo 4 players.
Now even before the release of BLOPS 2, it is quite impressive that it reached 400k. so i dont think BLOPS 2 had a huge impact with the population. If they did like the game they would play both not complete quit it.
BLOPS 2 had a decrease on players as well… some traded their game back
IMO Homefront had the worst i remember me playing it for few days and traded it back in. it doesnt capture me

Found myself doing this a lot as well, or just randomly driving around in a custom game.

I would allso love to play now but the population is not that good, i mean searching in KOTH with 500 players is just going to end up with a bad host way to often.
