Halo 4- Pistol

Alright, I had a problem in Halo 2 and 3. Why was the pistol so bad? Don’t get me wrong, Halo 2’s was okay, but Halo 3’s… really? What was the point of putting it into the game? I had only used it a couple times in matchmaking and thats only because it was my last resort. It doesn’t make sense to me. Why is it that Halo CE’s was amazing. You could 3 shot and zoom in! Why is it that Halo 3’s was crap even though it should’ve been better. It’s the updated pistol. Why did they make it suck?? I hope Halo 4’s is drastically modified to be almost like Halo CE’s. Or at least Halo Reach’s updated version of Halo CE’s. What do you guys think?

I would rather see an Unsuppressed Automag in Halo 4. Well balanced and has its own niche compared to the PoS H3 pistol or the utility weapon light that was the Reach pistol.

I am just tired of 8rd pistol. I want to see a 12 rd pistol with a higher rate of fire

Halo 3’s pistol was only bad in BR starts. In AR starts I found it much more effective than the AR ever was. Especially for dealing with the odd guy smart enough to pick a BR or Carbine up off the ground. The AR never stood a chance.

But I do agree fully that Halo Reach’s Magnum was the best overall, but it mostly plays like a “temporary” DMR until you pick one up. At least Halo 2’s Magnum was unique in some ways, and great for Dual Wield.

Wow! I really like the idea of a 12 round pistol with a higher rate of fire! That would be siiick!

CE’s was the best, easily. Reach’s Magnum randomly misses shots, in my eyes, that makes it pretty bad.

I think Reach’s is on par with CE’s in my opinion. If it randomly misses shots, I’m gonna say thats due to lag.

Somehow on Halo 3, I actually did suprsingly well with the pistol go figure.

The only reason Halo Reach’s Pistol missed shots is because it had bloom. Crazy bloom that is. Halo 4 should have a pistol like this.

Halo 3’s didn’t make any sense. It was good when your enemy had no shields, but by was it implemented? It had a stupid slow ROF and didn’t do that great on the damage side.

Halo 2’s was pretty good, it fit the role of a pistol quite well.

Halo CE’s was nice, but it no longer needs to play that role that it played. The BR has it covered. It was a nice weapon that required skill to use, but since Halo 2 it’s role got filled by the BR, meaning the sandbox had two OP ranged weapons, and needed something else, which is why the Halo 2 pistol changed the formula. Now the pistol runs CQB quick kills, and struggles at long range while the BR/DMR gets it done mid to long. The CE Pistol is no longer needed, which is why I like the Reach Magnum, it works!

It’s actually more noticeable without bloom, especially in the Classic playlist :confused:

Same here. Like the Halo CE Pistol(But Semi.) It had a 12 round mag.

Also I want to have more than 1 pistol. The pistol you spawn with can be the Halo 2 pistol, or ODST pistol. The other pistol that spawns on the map can be the Halo CE pistol.

They had to make it weaker because there’s no way to give it a niche if no aiming mechanics such as bloom or recoil are included. Making the pistol a 5-shot would kinda defeat the purpose of picking up a BR in Halo 3.

I’m guessing the Halo 4 pistol will be balanced in relation to the BR (and hopefully everything else as well), like the pistol was balanced in relation to the DMR in Reach. That is, the pistol has a close-medium range and the BR a medium-long range.

This would be achieved by having a 5-shot pistol that has severe recoil, making it impossible to spam at long range.

There is actually bloom in anniversary classic if you fire fast enough (semi-auto as well as holding down the trigger for full auto). That’s pretty disappointing, but if you slow down the shooting by a tad, the bloom is negligible, way less than the TU.

But this quote is otherwise correct - even at zero bloom, the pistol in Reach has a pretty substantial amount of random spread.

I’d be fine with something that acts like the CE Pistol in Halo 4, modified to have the same shots to kill as the BR and maybe drops the scope. So that way you have a single shot weapon that kills faster than the BR (because it shoots faster) but is harder to use at range. Both the single shot and burst fire crowd can be happy that way.
