Perks were by far the most surprising thing I learned about in the vidoc. I’m still pretty skeptical as I’m sure a lot of the community is, but I really doubt 343 will push them too far. After all this isn’t Cod or Battlefield. There are no killstreaks or short kill times to work around. Drawing the line between what is and isn’t acceptable is important though.
Bad Perk Ideas
More weapon damage in any form
Increased beatdown speed (sprint is coming back, this would cause problems)
Increased health / shields
Active Camo in any form
Armor Lock / Overshields in any form
These perk ideas shouldnt be in Halo 4. Halo should be Halo. This perk thing isn’t Halo. Sprint isn’t Halo either.
What are you thinking 343? Keep Halo the way it was in the original trilogy! You said in the first look that you want new players and those who played Reach first to be opened to this Halo game? I was told that Halo would be kept Halo. New players, and Halo players who were introduced to the series by Reach, need to know what Halo really is. Please reconsider implementing these things in the game. Take out sprint please…
Perks should not effect movement speed or jump height. The ones for, say, more starting weapon ammo or grenade capacity, maybe switch weapons faster, etc. Those would be fine, but nothing further than that.
I’m ok with all of those except maybe the increased movement speed or jump height. I can see the jump height being exploited in a ton of different ways.

Believe me I would rather have no sprint or perks too, but we have to accept that they are in the game at this point.
I don’t like the idea of perks at all. I’ve been playing Halo since CE, and my favorite (and by far the most played) Halo game is Halo 2. That was before they started implementing all the CoD gimmicks into Halo like equipment, sprint, [armor] abilities, perks, etc.
I don’t know why 343i feels like they need to mess with a recipe for success. It seems to me that 343i is doing exactly what Bungie did with Reach: created a new and different game just for the sake of putting their own stamp on it. Yeah well, Reach was a colossal failure, and I’m not too optimistic about Halo 4 either.
My favorite part of Halo’s multiplayer is that two players enter with identical and evenly matched characters, and the person that wins the 1v1 battle was the one with more skill. It shouldn’t matter what armor ability, perk, etc. you spawned with.
