Halo 4 pc?

I just want to know if anyone has heard any news about Halo 4 possibly getting a pc version. If you’re wondering why I want this it’s because while I enjoy Reach and 3 I feel like I could’ve enjoyed them more with more precise keyboard and mouse while probably having a longer playtime with the addition of pc-side mods/tweaks.

Nope.

I don’t see it happening. Hasn’t happened since Halo 2, and some comments at Halofest seemed to imply that 343 wasn’t really looking to port future titles to the PC.

343 said they might consider it.

Why does no say to unrealistic? What does realism have to do with something that is perfectly possible and would probably benefit the series?

I don’t think they will need to worry about this, apparently Windows8 will have XBL so maybe that means you can play any Xbox games on it?

Unrealistic in terms of production cost and interest.
And I hope XBL replaces games for windows live
As for playing Xbox games on PC I doubt it severely

Halo is the flagship series for the Xbox consoles and is one of the, if not the top, driving forces of the system. If Halo 4 were to be sold for the PC, it would take away from the sales of the game on the Xbox, and therefore take away sales from the console itself.

Sure, consumers may be happy if it came out for PC as well, but it would hurt Microsoft’s baby, the Xbox, which is why they wouldn’t do it.

-Yoink!-

While Halo was originally meant for the Mac, it then became a console game. Putting it on the PC would be like putting WoW on the consoles.

This is something I’ve really wanted. But, I can understand why they don’t port Halo to the PC. Number one reason? Sales. Halo is the flagship for the Xbox. If they came with the PC Port, sales will eventually go down for the Xbox 360.

However, they should try to balance the sales between the 360 and PC. Like, they should release a PC Port of Halo within 6-12 months after It’s launch day? Or, release another Halo game (e,g: Halo 5) and then port Halo 4 to the PC.

Probably they saw how poorly Halo 2 was ported to the PC.

It’s too bad what happened with Halo 2 Vista. I still play it now and again, and I love it.

Only if the music files are unencrypted so I can extract them, just in case 343i messes up with the soundtrack again like they did with Anniversary.

EDIT: Or like Bungie did with Halo: CE and especially Halo 2… or like Hans Zimmer did with Pirates 2, 3, and 4, or like James Horner did with Titanic… absolutely slaughtered the score by compressing the soundtrack into a few uninteresting songs.

That is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard in my entire life.

Halo: Combat Evolved was put on the PC and it did magnificently. The reason it did was due to good porting job by Gearbox Software. The reason WoW would do terrible on a console is due to restrictions on updates, hardware limitations, and a lack of keys/buttons on controllers. There’s absolutely no reason that any of this could be applied to Halo in the least. All I see in your statement is blatant ignorance.

What happened with Halo 2 Vista is not the PC platform’s fault nor the Halo series its self. What happened with Halo 2 Vista is absolutely the fault of Microsoft, Hired Gun, and the Games for Windows Live model. Halo 2 Vista is a disgrace to PC gaming, as is Games for Windows Live. Putting the fault on either PC or Halo isn’t right. Just look at Custom Edition with its ~1,500 population vs. Halo 2’s ~60.

OT: It is pretty unrealistic for Microsoft to make this move, in my opinion. With the fall of GFWL and Halo 2, they’re likely to see PC as a platform they’re not comfortable with for gaming. They’d most likely avoid blaming themselves and put full blame on the game/the population that inhabits it. They also want Halo to continue being an exclusive and to be immediately recognizable as an Xbox game.

The only reason they let Gearbox port Halo: Combat Evolved was due to an agreement with Steve Jobs. He was upset at Microsoft for taking away Halo from Mac/PC due to it being the driving force for the Mac’s new focus on gaming. (You can see why he’d be pissed seeing as how it turned out now.) So, to help calm him down, they ported over Combat Evolved and a few other games to the PC platform.

The reason they gave for Halo 2 was to launch GFWL with the game that filled Xbox Live with life. They thought they couldn’t go wrong with Halo 2 and how wrong they were…

In the end, Microsoft would have to have a good reason to bring Halo 4 to PC. I can’t see that happening in the near future.

The only way I see MS releasing Halo 4 for PC is if they want to continue to really push out Games for Windows. Which most of us know is like the most hated game service on the planet for PC gamers. If MS wants to see any real value to a PC version, they would release it on Steam and not restrict them to settling with Games for Windows.

Yeah, because Halo 2 was only designed to run in Windows Vista (and Windows 7). In 2007, not many PCs were running Vista, and that caused the sales to drop for the PC Port of Halo 2. Plus, the System Requirements were a tad bit high for that era. In order to get Halo 2 to run under XP, you have to modify couple of files to get It to work.

I honestly feel there shouldn’t be a boundary line between PC and Xbox since their made from the same company. I would have so much fun if I was able to play a bunch of MMO’s and Steam Games on my Xbox because I feel more comfortable but our current gen of Xbox’s are so behind it’s something we would have to wait for…

But who knows Maybe Bungie will figure out a way for that to work as well =) (But seriously please no)

They won’t do it cuz Halo is Microsoft’s baby and without it the Xbox brand would tank! Microsoft doesn’t have nearly the first-party output that Sony or Nintendo has and I’m sure there are plenty of people who would, if they had the option, use the all powerful keyboard and mouse over a controller, so like I said Microsoft won’t do anything that would take away from the Xbox

There are plenty of MMORPGs on consoles right now, and plenty more on the way.

I’m the only one that hit yes. :frowning:
