Halo 4 outdid a movie in sales in 24 hrs

When a game can achieve that feat. You come back and tell me.

And this is for the insults towards Halo 4 stating 343 ruined Halo.

Black Ops 2 made 1 million in sales, and thats multplatform

Halo 4 made $220 million in sales. That destroys any Halo title to date.

I may be throwing non-confirmed numbers around, but $220 million is more then every Halo game to date thrown together.

343 con -Yoinking!- grats

Video games also cost six times as much as a movie ticket. Comparing video game sales to movie box offices is stupidly flawed.

> Video games also cost six times as much as a movie ticket. Comparing video game sales to movie box offices is stupidly flawed.

That isn’t the point.

When has any Halo title sold that much?

Halo 4 outsold every Halo game put together, and demolished it’s rival when everyone anticipated that Black Ops 2 would do better then Halo 4 because of a damn ranking system.

> Video games also cost six times as much as a movie ticket. Comparing video game sales to movie box offices is stupidly flawed.

That may be true, but still, $220 million is pretty -Yoinking- good.

It is your thread title…

> Video games also cost six times as much as a movie ticket. Comparing video game sales to movie box offices is stupidly flawed.

There are probably way more Harry Potter fans than there are Halo fans. I think it’s quite impressive.

> Video games also cost six times as much as a movie ticket. Comparing video game sales to movie box offices is stupidly flawed.

If you’re meaning cost efficiency per year, you’re dead wrong.
It doesn’t take 5 years to make a good movie like it does a game.

> When has any Halo title sold that much?

In a few different places I’ve read that Halo 4 sold less than 3 and Reach.

When you title your thread “HALO 4 OUTDID A MOVIE IN SALES IN 24 HRS” I’m pretty sure I know what your point is.

Go look at the Youtube video title and you’d see why…

Then actually read the rest of the thread before you make an arguement.

I heard that as well. I guess numbers speak for themselves. This is coming from Microsoft themselves.

Keep it clean, people. I’d hate for one of the mods to have to step in.

actually it can and does…

halo 4 has done bloody well tbf! new graphics, new story/enemys & quite a overhaul on the online. and so has black ops 2 considering the damage from the past cods just updating graphics, black ops 2 is better than expected. this is coming from someone thats hated the past few cod games & a big halo fanboy :L

If you consider that fact that for a family of 4 to go to the movies on opening night costs $72 just for tickets I would say that the video game making a similar amount in 24 hours is quite impressive. I do not know of any other game to date that has done anything similar. I believe that is what the thread is supposed to be about.

That doesn’t mean it’s not a flop, the reason it has made that much on launch day is because it been 5 years since the last main title and fans like myself were really eager and excited to get it more than any other halo game.

And what helped make that happen was a lot of people thought halo 4 was never gonna happen until last year when they announced it and that made fans even more eager because to those people and again like myself something they never thought would happen in the franchise actually happened.

Halo 4 has been the biggest success for microsofts bank which means nothing to the fanbase and it doesnt tell us that 343 made a great game.

I’m not saying halo 4 was a flop but at the same time that doesn’t say it wans’t either.

more people saw the movie. black ops sold 1 million copies at gamestop at midnight alone. it shattered halo 4. it wasnt even close

Why are we comparing videogames to movies? That’s like comparing books to music.

You sir need to find another movie theater. 72$ for tickets? JUST TICKETS?

Man, Theaters near me are like…meh 9$ per ticket…and then the 7$ popcorn x2 so what…50$ for 4 tickets and 2 large popcorns?
