Opening Cutscene
I just rewatched the opening cutscene of Halo 4 and completely forgot about the mysterious man interrogating Halsey. While watching it, I realized towards the end some of the questions this mysterious man asked has potential to be directly related to Halo 5. Check it our for yourself: http://youtu.be/jYdxweyMrMU?t=1m41s
Synopsis
When he asked do you think the Spartans basic lack of humanity helped Halsey then immediately recognized that this man had another agenda other than putting her behind bars. She then states that the others were Navel Intellegence but he is something else. I’m curious to what the something else is referring to…
Afterwards the man starts talking about the sociopathic tendencies of Spartans to which we see a Spartan (I will presume John) sitting on a crate looking at the floor indicating sadness. If I had to guess, this could be John after he spoke with Laskey. Halsey immediately corrects him and states her Spartans were efficient on the battlefield to which she claims she supplied the tools to maintain that efficiency. At this point we see her handing, who we now know for sure is John, an AI, Cortana. She describes Cortana as a tool to maintain efficiency while this man describes it as sociopathic.
He then asks if she believes Chief succeeded because he was at his core broken. I did notice Halsey still has her arm her and is still in custody so we know this cutscene was before Spartan Ops. Anyways, at this point Halsey starts trying to figure out what he is after by asking what does John have to do with this. Clearly, this man has some agenda against John. I have no idea for what, for all I know he is the Spartan on the cover, not likely though.
Halsey then says, “You want to replace him”. Im not sure how she jumped to this, mind you she is a genius and has way more knowledge about her situation than I ever could. This is where that other ONI Spartan may come into play. Im curious though who is behind the creation of that Spartan as this man is “something else” as Halsey described… He then states that the Master chief is dead to which Halsey replies, “his file reads missing in action.” He responds by saying Spartans never die. Seems like a contradiction of what he said a few seconds ago… right? Unless of course he was referring to Johns position as Master Chief. He could have been saying that there is no more Master Chief. John is just a person who at his core is broken down with nothing to control him.
The only other things we don’t have an explanation for is what the Librarian did to Chief exactly and where is the Janis Key story going… (not sure if this was answered in another medium)
Thats what I took away from this scene, I would love to hear what you guys take away from it!
