Halo 4 Open World?

Ive been hearing alot about this Halo 4 open world rumor…and people seem to love the idea of it. I think that it is a terrible idea! The halo campaigns are perfect as they are…linear works with halo, it fits.
Everyone is asking for an open world campaign because it will be different, but as soon as it comes out…everyones gotta be pissed right off because they don’t like the way the game feels…
343! keep halo the way it is now! Linear / fun

lol, i’d think there should be two modes,

one is the normal campagin… nothing new (exept the missions of course!)

and the seconds mode should be like a combo of reach’s New alexandria level, and ODST’s Mombasa streets,

whereas you go around killing covie’s (or mabey flood/forerunner) and every one in a while, a short mini-mission will come up, and you can choose to accept it
the mini-missions will be like, new alexandrias (the ones in between the Jammers) where its like you have to protect some marines being pinned down, or you have to kill (X) number of covie’s and a specified location, or you have to destroy and objective, things like that

and also have the ability to use falcons/hornets ect. to fly above the city

do you like this idea?

does no one else have anything to say?

i understand the concerns. Just give us a 12-16hour campaign. Maybe have like 2 campaign disks. That would be fun. Multiplayer will always rule king though.

Depends on how we define “open world”. I wouldn’t want the game to go Elder Scrolls or GTA, but I would be beside myself with joy if Halo 4 went for a Crysis 1-approach to level design. Give me clearly defined objective in a large world where I can choose how to approach said objectives.

i would love an open world halo game, where you have questes, side and main, and where diffrent stuff happens depending on the path you choose
