Halo 4 on the Xbox 720...

Why is Microsoft releasing Halo 4 while the 360 is on it’s deathbed?

I understand that 360’s user base means they sell more copies this way, but wouldn’t Halo 4 have made great launch title for the new system?

I plan on getting a 720 (or whatever they end up calling it) pretty early on. I just think it would have been nice to have Halo 4-6 all on the same system with similar graphics. I have the feeling that Halo 4 will be forever recognized as the “ugly” game in the new trilogy - relative to 5 and 6 of course.

If Microsoft and 343 really love us, they’ll release a FREE Halo 4 DLC upgrade with upscaled textures, and graphical enhancements when the 720 is released… Call it “forward compatibility” if you like.

Personally, I’m not willing to shell out 6 to 700 for a new console on release date and probably have bugs and problems with along with spending 60 bucks for Halo 4.

Because the next Xbox is gonna be releasing in like 2014 and the end of the world is December 21st, 2012. DUHH!!! Get your facts straight.

bad things happen to games that suddenly switch to next Gen project in mid development man

Halo 4 has been in the works for years already for the 360 which has a FAR larger installed base than the 720 will have at launch…it will be the swan song of the 360 and halo 5 will be the first killer app for the 720

Uhm Halo4 will be the last big swan song for the 360. And Halo4 will be the best looking halo this gen. There is no problem to have Halo5 and 6 on the new xbox then. It will be a Halo2 type of story again. End Halo4 with a cliffhanger and expect Halo5 around 2015 on the new xbox

@Zombie
LoL The new xbox will probably not cost more than 500. And i have no problem with that. If i can expect a really beast machine for that price, who cares how expensive it will be. The new xbox will be day 1 for me.

That’s like saying Halo 1 or 2 is the “ugly” game in the original trilogy. They’re not.

Look at it like this:

Xbox 1: Halo 1 & 2
Xbox 360: Halo 3 & 4
Xbox 720: Halo 5 & 6

Of course…

There most likely isn’t going to be a next-gen xbox for quite some time, also why would you want to wait around 2-3 years at the least for halo 4 when the graphics look amazing and it comes out this year.

720 Will probably launch with H5 (within 2 years)…hopefully. In the meantime play H4…or (ODST 2 or H2A) something along those lines will prob be released next year.

Or Halo: Sangheili?

Halo5 will probably NOT a launch title. Big Halo games are in development for at least 3 years. Halo5 in only 2 years with a generation change? I really doubt that.
They will probably use the first year to learn more about the new console, the new Dx11 tech, getting the engine, prototyping and more.
Man a Halo5 with DX11 tech Tesselation? Cant imagine how awesome that will look like :o

lol well then you have more trust than I do if you think it’ll be no more than 500. Inflation and Microsoft wanting money, man. It’ll bite you in the -Yoink!- by suprise!

And a lot of people care how much it’ll be. Economy is still -Yoink- and I spent 300 on a xbox slim with 250gb memory not long ago. I’m gonna make it do work before i even think of farting out 500 or more for a new system.

Thats your problem. Im a owner of the 360 since 2005. And im ready to get a new console next year. If u dont want to jump day1 on the new system, nobody is forcing you.

I’ve had the big 360 since 06, but that’s not the point. why you getting so pissy, bro? I’m just discussing it as anyone would. Giving my opinion instead of acting superior over someone.

Well see about that

It just would not be smart from a Business prospective.

You cannot deny that Halo is losing some of it’s popularity. Halo 4 needs to try and bring people back in first. The only way to do that is by releasing it on the xbox 360, because its user base is huge.

If people like Halo 4, the more likely they are to shell out money to be the next console, because they want to continue the story. That’s why I bought my xbox 360.

Besides, the next xbox probably won’t be out for at least another year and a half. That is too long of a wait.

Im so excited for E3 2013

Halo isn’t exactly the most popular game on the market right now. I think this is a wise decision on Microsoft’s part. Bring people back to the franchise with Halo 4 and then sell the NextBox with Halo 5 as a launch title.

Halo5 will not be a launch title.
The new xbox will probably release Fall/holiday 2013.
We can expect Halo5 in 3 years at the earliest.

Halo 2. And reach is way better than 3 in graphics and 4 is way better than reach. It wouldn’t be any different if it was on a new console.

Fixed that one for you
The 360 has not had just 2 Halos, far from. If MS keeps this “annual Halo” thing, they’ll release at least 7 Halos for 720, probably more. MS wants CoD, they’re getting CoD.

OnT:
720 will have a very small userbase for the first 2-3 years, releasing a big game like HAlo is financial suicide. However, giving “Halo 4 players” advantages for upgrading is a smart way to go. Add a true HD texture pack DLC, a few extra maps or even some useless avatar stuff and many will jump the wagon to get a 720.
I think MS will do something to get people on the 720, since the hardecore players are the only ones who ever buys an expensive console the first few years after it’s release. Then again, MS will probably bundle it with Kinectimals 2 and Kinect Sports 2 (no kinect) to attract casuals once again, while the annual Halos gets as good or innovative as COD. Annual releases = bad :frowning:
