Halo 4 on a Competitive or MLG standpoint

So, for all the MLG fans out there, including myself, know that Halo: Reach’s fanbase slowly dwindled and concluded Halo’s 9 year run of being at an event. I have faith in 343 and Halo 4 to revive it’s glory on the MLG circuit. How about you guys? Feel free to leave an opinion. I’d love to hear them all. (Or…read >.>)

Also, from a casual standpoint, I think this game will suit fun customs as great or even greater than Halo 3 did, and Reach too even, once everyone remakes the great ones!

Anything will be better than Reach. ZBNS is already better than H3.

You’re an MLG guy, but you think Halo 4 is looking MLG Competitive? Thats a first…

But anyways, I think Halo 4 will be good and competitive for me. Of course, I appear to have a different definition of “competitive” than a lot of others.

And I think all these customization options will make those “casual” games a lot more fun!

Once you have reached rock bottom, it can only get better…

I wouldn’t necessarily take MLG main events as seriously as in the past… They’re becoming a huge business, and they’re making business driven decisions.

Did you see how much the audience/viewers count went up when they started League of Legends? It broke ALL the MLG attendance records. It was insane.

I would like to see what professional Halo players think about the game, but having it as a main event or something in MLG doesn’t really mean much. Whichever game provides the largest audience is going to be in.

Heh im not MLG, im more of a mix between MLG and a custom game and BTB maniac. But yeah, i think Halo 4 could work fine competitively, MLG found a way with Reach to make it work. Even though it didn’t last…

Of course mlg will be big this coming year with Halo 4. Bringing reaches bloom skill into the mix was a big improvement on your aiming and timing skill level. Of course, the bloom won’t be as intense as Reach’s, but it’ll still be there a little bit! That’s why the BR needs to be a 5 shot. It has no bloom, therefore, you can spam all day as long as your aim is skilled.

And for the way Halo is supposed to be played, no doubts it’ll be the most amazing up to date Halo EVER.

There will be a shooter on the circuit it would be insane for MLG to alienate the largest fanbase in gaming. Whether or not that is H4 or not, will depend on the game and the community reaction.

I wouldn’t call Reach rock bottom, competitively. You could always end up with a straight up button-masher, or worse… Call of Duty

Reach was rock buttom for the competitive Halo scene. We were coming off the highest popularity for the scene yet with H3, -Yoinking!- T2 was on Millions of Dr.Pepper Bottles and sponsor interest was exploding, then Reach failed to continue the legacy of quality competitive Halo games and MLG could not find a way to fix an obviously broken game.

I hope it was worth it for all the “new fans” that came in with Reach IMO.

From all I can see, so long as the movement is quick enough for effective strafing, and weapons can have increased damage, and the maps customized for a more competetive flow, I really don’t see how Halo 4 can’t be in MLG.

If they want a more classical version for their gametype, it looks entirely possible. Remember, Infinite Slayer is a Variant of Team Slayer, just as the MLG settings are a variant of Team Slayer.

You mean all those new fans that went to Black Ops that November? And then MW3 the next year?

I do think that Halo 4 will please competitive players and casual players alike. I know I’ll have fun!

Largest fanbase in gaming? Halo definitely is not.

Starcraft 2 and League of Legends are single handedly breaking any records that Halo ever had.

Even Halo: Reach and Call of Duty’s events broke any records from before.

I would definitely love to hear what professional Halo players have to say about the game down the road, after some serious time with it and maybe a few tournaments, but if Halo isn’t on the Pro Circuit that really doesn’t mean as much as people may think.

MLG is in it for the money… Right now Starcraft 2 and League of Legends are mountains above anything else. If Halo 4 can somehow break that (Which it won’t) that’d be nice. But in major MLG events or not, that really doesn’t say much about the game’s competitive qualities.

I think that Halo 4 will do excellent for any style of play, competitive or casual. I do hope, however, that the whole bloom thing from Reach will disappear, or at least be minimized. I love how our character can flip a tank, but can’t hold a gun straight.

It will BETTER THEN REACH ON ever level .

And if everything is implemented right it should be good for every type of player…

Quoted for truth. So much truth… :’ )

Yeah it looks good. Hopefully though, there are options to turn a load of this BS off that comes in the default game e.g. grenade indicators, AAs (pick ups on map), sprint (maybe), ordinance drops, better maps to play on.

With all the fluff 343 is adding and how terrible the maps look MLG is going to have to make some major changes to make the game playable. Unfortunately having drastically different settings than default makes it harder for casuals to relate and understand what is going on (even though they have no idea what is going on on maps they know lol).

The second MLG starts removing something the second they start losing viewers.

Oh, and their personality keeps many away.
